Jumping to Peg's defense (albeit unasked) I am happy to provide an answer to the "gloves" question.
One would want to wear rubber gloves because the components of JB Weld are really hard on human physiognomy. Individually, the toxic chemicals can cause liver, kidney and heart damage. All together, they are a carcinogenic stew that sane people want to avoid--until those chemicals combine in a synergistic fashion to harden into a safe, dense solid.
And, of course, gloves help to eliminate the possibility of those darned fingerprints getting law enforcement involved in a perfectly proper family matter.
