Their 1911s are single stacks with 8 round mags.

I knew they made 1911's, and they make (or at least import ) double stack guns.
I had the flu and didn't feel like looking to see if they actually did put the 2 together.

You got the flu?  Man, what a bad break this time of year.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

Just got off the phone with Para USA and the are sending me a bag with some paperwork then UPS will be picking it up and going in for repairs. I think I will be getting a steel frame unless they happen to have an alloy one lying around or have a very good welder.

The wear resistance and strength are worth the extra weight.

The alloy frame Para double stack pistol fully loaded is supposed to equal the weight of a steel framed single stack fully loaded. I've never actually weighed them so I can't say for sure. The alloy frame pistol is nicer to carry because of the lesser weight but like Tom said it doesn't have the wear resistance and strength. I've mentioned before that my old Para frame with a Colt series 80 slide rattles like a maraca. The funny thing is the frame fits nice and tight on my carbine conversion unit.   ???

Back when I lived in Illinois, I used to get the Flu on average once a year. Usually always in the Winter from guys at work who would come in regardless of how sick they were. Sniffling, sneezing, and snotting all over the machine handles, and everything else they touched, along with everyone else.

Since I moved to Arizona I've gotten it once in 26 years. Something else I don't miss.

Just got my Para 14 back from the repair shop. they couldn"t repair it and they also said because it was made in Canada and was not under warranty. I had to send them $35.00 for shipping to get it back. It didn't go to Para Ord  but went to a place called "Sports world" in Tulsa Ok. So I filled the barrel with some cast bullets and I'm going to cut off the end of the firing pin and use as a paper weight.

I'm not familiar with the interchangeability amongst  Para's and other brands, (other than doing a trigger job on a single stack Para for a friend, I have not worked with them), but could you go through somewhere like Brownells and buy a bare frame and fit your parts?
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

Good grief, go to Midway USA and order a new frame !
Or Brownell's.
Trashing it out is a foolish waste.
