The alloy frame Para double stack pistol fully loaded is supposed to equal the weight of a steel framed single stack fully loaded. I've never actually weighed them so I can't say for sure. The alloy frame pistol is nicer to carry because of the lesser weight but like Tom said it doesn't have the wear resistance and strength. I've mentioned before that my old Para frame with a Colt series 80 slide rattles like a maraca. The funny thing is the frame fits nice and tight on my carbine conversion unit.
