I didn't say it shouldn't be done.... I was merely addressing the motive behind the event.
Personal vengeance (revenge) is what the Bible addresses. Guilt for crimes, and punishment therefore, is a different matter. You can judge a persons actions (based on legal guidelines) without judging the character of the heart and punishment meted out and still be sound biblically.
This separation (IMHO) is what allows a Christian to sit on a jury.

As a side note, the Bible is full, front to back, with God's sub-contractors.  ;)

So had court today. Really long story short everything is handled to my satisfaction.
