Sorry to hear that Rabbit.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.
-William Pitt, British Prime-Minister (1759-1806)

USPS has never lost a package... just misplaced some for a few weeks for unknown reasons... UPS has actually lost things and never found them

Actually, my best experiences have been with Domino's, and Prime.
Domino's driver got through Police lines of a possible bomb to get my pie to me.
Got her a good tip too.   ;D

And when USPS delivered my prescriptions to the wrong address, the Prime driver knocked on my door when he brought the replacements.
Fed-Ex, and UPS just throw stuff on the porch, including an AR upper, in the rain.   ::)

Rabbit, Sorry for the loss of your father, and for the loss of lifelong treasures.  Nothing will make up for their loss, and sadly you will just be a claim number to UPS.

When I was in the funeral home we always used USPS.  We started with it, because they are the only ones who will ship cremated remains.  We would use the same tracking level (Registered) for other family valuables.  We never lost anything, and if something would drop off the tracking radar, one phone call, and it would be found quickly.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

I beg to differ, suh.....the USPS has lost (and never found) and damaged far too many of my packages over the last dozen years.....also had several money orders removed from cards (cards showed up with the envelopes open and MO missing). This younger generation doesn't have the same work ethic as older ones and in certain rural areas the USPS is using contract delivery providers who are not under USPS employment. We sometimes have three or more different carriers per week (usually not the same one two days in a row and if it's raining they might not deliver at all that day).

Annnd, it's about to get worse:

Of course what does it matter if it gets there?  Some recipients warehouse it.

Don't know if the rest of the US caught this story about months old mail on pallets at the VA.  Unprocessed.

Veterans have complained for years that mail sent to the Atlanta VA Health Care System hospital often disappears, delaying or preventing medical treatment.

Two Veterans Affairs workers at the Decatur hospital discovered at least one reason that may have been happening: ten pallets of months-old mail sitting unopened in the warehouse basement.

And then there was the postal worker in Pennsylvania that was storing undelivered mail in her house.

You edited out the key part of my post:  "Registered".  Registered is handled with high security, and even kept in locked cages at times.

What in the blue hell are you talking about?
I didn't edit out anything about your post.....I quoted what "JimmerJammer" said above, not yours.
