I’ve sold a few things on CL but ya gotta pay attention.  Doubt I will in the future!

Ten or so years ago we bought a good used truck for our younger son when he graduated.
Now when you go on there looking for something all you get is dealers.I went on looking for a used cargo trailer and all I got was new trailer dealers.

We looked at a house to rent thru CL.  Had a look, met with the owner, nearly made the deal but decided against it.  A few days later the house showed up in a different town, same pictures, same rent!  Turns out someone copied his add and listed his house all over the place!

I called him and sent him the links.  He was pissed!

One of the biggest scams on CL is travel trailers/campers. Always a way too new camper for way too little funds being sold by a woman whose husband either just died, just divorced, or just shipped out. They're trying to scam you for the advanced shipping charges similarly to what Mike mentioned in his post.

That's not so bad.
They could have SOLD it.   ;D

Dad was an orphan... father abandoned family of 5 boys and 3 girls...placed in the Jones Home, Cleveland Ohio, under the Cleveland Humane Society .... 1920 census listed him as "inmate"... boarded with a couple of families and used as summer labor... finally came to live with the Snyder family in 1922...

when possible he donated to the Salvation Army and later when me moved to Florida,  to the Florida Sheriff's Boys Ranch .... he never explained the connection to the Salvation Army, but it was implied, and good enough for me

Or unload stolen campers .
