People ruining my range day
« on: January 07, 2022, 01:27:31 AM »
At the range today having a good time ringing steel at 200. I had 4 guys keep asking me if I’d like to sell my rifles. Guns in question are my K31 and M63. Then I had my #1 mk3 out. This one guy just wouldn’t shut up. I had to have the RO move me tell these guys to leave me alone. All I wanted was to shoot and relax. Great day ruined 😡

Sadly, the era of the good ol' "gun guy" firearms enthusiast is going the way of the dinosaur....we are being replaced by gun owners.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Wow, never had that happen at a range.   I have drawn a crowd when shooting my awm. Full auto is so common it does not get a 2nd look, but I swear last range day with my awm I had guys creaming their pants.

The gun guy is definitely going extinct. Specially here in California. Since I’m unable to complete in judo my only passion is hitting the range and sharpening my skills. It’s therapeutic for me. I don’t like being interrupted. I don’t mind sharing or talking shop with polite interested folks, but these guys just wouldn’t take a hint.

I know lots of judoka  in ca, where are you located?
I spent a lot of time doing it, have a few state titles and some 2nd and 3rd places at San Jose Buddhist.   So I am pretty fimlair with the scene.   Been a long times since I stepped on the tatami.

Unfortunately for me I may never hit the tatami ever again. Damage to my cervical spine has now sidelined me for 3 years. First my labrum and then mcl tear. To top it all off I got in an car accident that wrecked my neck and lower back. My fiancé is unable to travel since Japan is in dire need of doctors. Hopefully I’m able to travel soon. I miss her very much. Hopefully I can return kodokan soon

some of the most fun I had on the tatami  was teaching the kids.  Given my decades of wrestling  coaching it was pretty easy.

Because of current political conditions and situations, more and more "non gun" types of people are becoming new gun owners. They know barely enough to be dangerous, and can quickly become a PITA. Especially at public ranges.

I don't mind the new people entering that much.  Yeah, if they don't have good manners, they can get on my nerves.  But at one time or another, in some setting, we have all been that person.  The ones that get under my skin are the know-it-alls.  They too have always been around, and I don't think they are growing in size greater than the trend of owners as a whole, but they are always there, and they are always the loudest.

Taking care of my wife today, so working in front of the TV most of the day.  Looked up from my phone, papers, and computer and saw Leave It To Beaver was on.  Eddie Haskel ... I hate Eddie Haskel!  On TV, and at the range.

How many remember the days of The Cat and "clip."  It wasn't only misuse of clip, but any terminology used incorrectly.  Jump over to the book of faces, and follow Rob Pincus, Sheriff Jim Wilson or Ed Head.  Warning shots, practice, what works and what doesn't, calibers, laws, etc.  These guys can start WWIII on the web by simply correcting someone who thinks they know better and forgets who they are debating with.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.
