Hello, Pathfinder. I recently bought so many morale patches I would need a Velcro vest to wear them all. This is one of them. The make another one for the AH-64 Apache, but I could never identify with it.
I always liked the AH-1 Cobra, the only army helicopter I know of that wasn't originally named after a Native American tribe. I'm not including ones like the Pave Hawk, that's based on a Blackhawk as being separate. And if anyone is thinking, what about the Little Bird? It was originally based on the OH-6 Cayuse. The AH-56 that was made 19 years before the Apache was introduced was called the Cheyenne, and probably should have been adopted. Its maximum speed was 244 mph vs. the Apache's 182 mph. And a cruising speed of 224 mph vs. 165. An extra 59 mph cruising speed is nothing to sneeze at as the old saying goes. But nothing is as narrow of a target as a Cobra. I think I would have liked being a pilot or gunner, but would have a hard time being a Snake Driver. The inside of the Cobra's cockpit doesn't look like much more than shoulder width to me.
