I forgot to look up that forge mark ^. Or I looked it up and forgot to post what it was. That's more likely. I bought a bottle of
GREEN LOCTITE 620 High Temperature
Retaining Compound (
not thread-locker) and I'm going to glue the front sight taper pins into the grooves in the barrel, pound them in tight, then grind them down flush after it's cured, before I put the gas block on over top of them. I may even slap some spray paint on it, since I bought a can of high temp flat black to paint my DTA MIL Brake with. It may serve no purpose whatsoever, and no one else will ever see it, so why am I going to do it? Just because I want to. That's all the reason I need, and at least I didn't have to buy a $1,000 per liter bottle to get the few drops I need, just 50 ml. I'll try to remember to take a few pics during the process to show what I'm doing. This stuff is for sticking sleeves or bearings onto shafts or tubes. No threads or other mechanical fasteners are required. If you have a pistol like a 1911 with a tapered cone comp, this stuff will hold it onto the barrel forever. No worries about it shooting loose. I should get it done sometime this spring. I have no idea what I'll do with the 49 ml. I have left over, but since it's anaerobic like Loctite threadlocker, I'm not worried about it drying up.
Have you ever heard of anyone super-gluing toothpicks into locks, of cars for example, for revenge against people who pissed someone off? Read about it, never done it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I doubt this would work for that unless you displaced all the air inside the lock.
LOCTITE 620 is a high strength, high temperature resistant retaining compound.
LOCTITE® 620 is a retaining compound designed for the bonding of cylindrical fitting parts. The product cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces and prevents loosening and leakage due to shock and vibration. Typical applications include locating pins in radiator assemblies, sleeves in pump housings and bearings in auto transmissions. Particularly suitable for applications where temperature resistance up to 200°C is required.
Ideal for retaining pins in radiator assemblies, sleeves in pump housings and bearings in auto transmissions.
