Im definitely not going back to San Jose. My boss has approved my leave of absence so I can go to Japan with kimi. She’s never experienced anything so awful. Luckily for I’ve got a very supportive family that will take care of my stuff while I’m away. I’m going to miss my pup Athena but I’ve got to help her momma get well

Sorry about the carjacking and the impact it has had on your wife. You are absolutely correct in taking care of her - family always comes first.

I haven't been to San Jose in eons, went there back in the 90's for a tech conference, no problems then.

BUY, having driven in Chicago most of my adult life, I learned some basic skills in defensive driving. Nothing will help when a guy comes off the Ryan onto the Eisenhower in Chicago doing about 90 (at 10PM) and cuts across all lanes of traffic to make an exit, as happened to me. I managed to miss him cuz in urban situations I keep my head on a constant swivel and I saw him coming and slowed down.

That said, I also stop at lights and signs with an car length in front of me. I find my self doing that in Savannah too as it is getting a might feisty these days. It really sucks to be in my 70s and still have to do this kind of nonsense, but I will keep me and my wife safe.

As for getting cut off front and back, I'm with those advocating hitting the car behind as hard as possible to gain maneuvering room. And running over the perps if they're in the way

Using a vehicle as self-defense against a firearm should be considered justified, even by a jury of complete idiots. If you kill them, so what? They shouldn't have been trying to kill you first. It would be justified vehicular homicide.

Never let your conscious be your guide. You probably didn't expect to see that this morning. But it can keep you from doing what needs to be done. You know who doesn't have to worry about what is and is not morally acceptable? Someone who does nothing and pays the price for it. If you do whatever it takes to survive, the details can be sorted out later.

I was thinking of that Dionne Warwick song, Do You Know The Way to San Jose? No. As a matter of fact I don't. and that's fine with me.

In a case of self-defense, the car can be considered the tool, the same as any self-defense tool you use. Check out your self-defense insurance coverage, and if they don't cover any legal tool, find a new carrier.
