Alaska panel finds Palin abused power in firing
« on: October 10, 2008, 07:45:11 PM »
By MATT APUZZO

Associated Press Writer

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A legislative committee investigating Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has found she unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state's public safety commissioner. The investigative report concludes that a family grudge wasn't the sole reason for firing Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan but says it likely was a contributing factor.

The Republican vice presidential nominee has been accused of firing a commissioner to settle a family dispute. Palin supporters have called the investigation politically motivated.

Monegan says he was dismissed as retribution for resisting pressure to fire a state trooper involved in a bitter divorce with the governor's sister. Palin says Monegan was fired as part of a legitimate budget dispute.

Take it easy, Haz, and don't reach your conclusion so quickly- the election is NEARLY over. I believe that McCain is the wrong candidate for our time. I think he would be a good Secretary of Defense or something like that, but I just don't think he has the bones anymore to take him out. That's ironic considering his background in the military. And I hope I am totally wrong about all of this too.....

I believe we should still hope for the best, but it might be time to start developing a strategy to outmaneuver the socialist Democrat party when Obama takes over in January. I am doing what MB suggested and have bought an AR 15, and extra magazines or clips  ;)

I think our best hope resides in either Huckabee or Palin. Take heart it's only four more years to 2012......

Honestly I'm not surprized, but I do have to question rather or not this would have come out if this was not an election year/ her being nomanated for VP.

Two key items in the article I read were one that I would call bipartisan - While the Legislature wanted the report released on schedule (or quickly) they did not vote to accept it; and on a more partisan note - Republican state Sen. Gary Stevens, a member of the committee, cautioned everyone to look at the report with a "jaundiced eye," indicating that it is not a perfect report.

Unfortunately, just as it has been since day one of the investigation, she has been considered guilty without due process.  The sad thing is that of the many issues with this officer and his actions and threats I have heard no one dispute any of them.  All that has been brought up is the accusation that the Gov. should not have pressured to have him removed.  I know that two wrongs don't make a right, but what about the possibility that Monegan really was not doing his job?

This is merely the Dems attempt at an October Surprise.  No surprise about the outcome of this investigation when the Democrat in charge of the panel announced shortly after the investigation began that the results would be made public at this point in history.  Don't be disheartened.

B-HO is supposed to be the candidate of hope.  I hope the people in this great country wake the hell up before November 4th.  I'm not optimistic, but I have hope.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

Wait for the actual report. Fox News just said the alleged abuse of power was "Palin not stopping her husband from using the governor's office to try to get Trooper Wooten fired."   Then they said Palin's husband testified she did tell him to stop.

I'll wait to see it unfiltered through the media.
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

I had heard this on the radio earlier today but wasn't sure if it was true.  They said her husband was pressuring and she told him to butt out (or something like that).

Gee, thanks.  To top of my pissy mood this morning I got my new glasses this afternoon.  I really needed 263 pages of government chatter to screw with this adjustment.

I think I gonna have a couple more beers (weekend off ... so far), get a good nights sleep, and ... did I mention that it is just 11 hours and 25 minutes till pheasant opener?
