Ammo Prices --- Notice A Drop Lately ? ? ?
« on: October 11, 2008, 08:43:17 AM »
I've noticed a drop in some 5.56 and .308 prices in the last couple of weeks.  I ordered 1,000 rounds of 5.56 this week for $350...loaded by a manufacturer that loads NATO XM193...they called it XM193 spec without the head stamp.

On the other hand, I spent an extra $ or so on 100 rounds of Winchester white box 9MM ball at Wally's World yesterday.

We're still way high on prices right now but I'm thinking we may have turned the corner on ammo prices.

Wal-Mart's ammo prices are horrible.... so is their inventory.
Everything I needed to learn in life I learned from Country Music.

Yeah...I thought not.  I just happened to catch that in my eye whilst perusing for 5.56.  Now...if I could just get that AR-10 I want....

Eric...I agree on many things about Wally being high.  But for new bulk ball ammo in they have the best store price around...reloads and mail order may be cheaper, but I can't beat it for a walk in for bulk ball ammo or...really, any of the white box Winchester or bulk 22 ammo for that matter.  Turn me on to something cheap that's new not a reload...I need it.  I want to avoid the Post-Apocalyptic (sp) buying on November 5.

I agree about Wally World prices. I buy Winchester white box .45 acp for 29'ish a 100. Bass Pro wants 35'ish for the same stuff, and local gun stores are even worse.

Yup.  That Bass Pro thing is cool to visit and they have some neat things to buy....but when it comes to shooting they only compete with their specials.

Wally World is cheap no doubt, but remember, your local gun shop is supporting local business and we all know where Wally's money ends up.

I buy .45 ball from the guy and his wife up the street for two reasons.  He's a small business who's doing the American Dream thing and there is something to be said for a beautiful, smart woman who's packin' heat!

I get Winchester .45 ball for about 35/100 and cheaper on the foreign brands like Sellier & Bellot, MagTech or UMC.  My Para will eat anything regardless of what I feed it.

The PMP ammo is pretty good.
I bought 10 boxes from Sportsman's guide a few years ago (don't think they have it now) and shoot it in my A-Bolt.
Accuracy is good.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison
