Scary Reading For A Snowy Weekend
« on: November 07, 2008, 02:02:43 PM »
Check out the website for the "Office Of The President Elect"

www.change.gov

I have a question that was brought to the top of my mind while reading the section on energy on the above listed website.  Not being a business major, I'm having a hard time understanding how increasing an oil company's cost of doing business (Windfall Profits Tax) is going to lower the price of the products they sell.  Can somebody please explain to me exactly how the hell THAT works?!?
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

I hate to degenerate to such base language, but in the military we called it MFMagic.

I just heard about this web site and am reading through it.   Still just lot's of platitudes.  Nothing i've found about "Crime" control yet.

FOUND IT:   UNDER URBAN POLICY   scroll down 2/3s the page.

Gun database, NICs/4473 for private sales, AWB.

I wonder if it'll be different laws for Rural vs Urban?

http://www.change.gov/agenda/urbanpolicy/

Address Gun Violence in Cities:  As president, Barack Obama would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals who shouldn't have them. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent, as such weapons belong on foreign battlefields and not on our streets.

To answer your question about how taxing businesses, I guess you never took economics in high school.  It's really pretty simple math.  A business pays more taxes which cuts down on their profit.  With less profit, they have to lay off half their staff.  The other half has to work twice as long.  This creates a lot of overtime which costs the company even more.  The tax increase and overtime pay ends up causing them to lose money on each product they sell.  But, no problem; they just make up the difference by selling more products.  Like I said, simple math.

I'm sure BHO can explain it a lot better than I can.

Oh, yeah, with all of the new unemployment claims, BHO will have to raise taxes again so his voting base won't lose their welfare payments.

That must be what they refer to as "new math", huh?
