Nupe, you can vent all you want. Just don't ask me to pull your finger.  ;D  I guess you have to work 8 hours a day at your regular job then 16 hours a day on the ranch. Most of the family farmers have already been driven out of business and the ranchers are next. I hope you make it, as we need all the independant farms and ranches we can get.

I thought it was supposed to be government OF the people, BY the people. It doesn't really work that way does it? Too much meddling where they have no business IMO. And if I can't afford beef I'll take an old nag or something else instead. There's too much carnivore blood in my system to give up meat now.

Since I've been going to college I moved into town.  I've also had to cut way back on the cattle that I own, and thus I don't have as much responsibility, so now I usually just help when ever I'm needed instead of being more involved with the day to day chores.  Hopefully it wont be that way for too much longer though.  Also as far as government goes (and I hope that this is okay to post on here if not let me know) for those of you from South Dakota, Ken Knuppe is running for governor in 2010.  He was recently the president of Stock Growers Association of South Dakota and supports a real commonsense government.  He is getting lots of support both in South Dakota and from people in other states, because of the type of person that he is and the stances that he takes (In other words not the normal stances taken by politicians most in D.C.)

We need more governors like that. Mine isn't even American. Well NOW she is (I guess). And she's going to be part of BHO's transition team and maybe even end up on the supreme court. Ugh. We just can't get rid of her even with term limits so she can't get re-elected.

Haz, I didn't say it was a GOOD one did I?

My first jaeger schnitzel was outside of Fort Polk before I went to Germany. Our ex-DI supply sergeant had some too and said that ain't nothing but a pork chop with gravy on it. That's okay, I like pork chops. Then I got to eat the real deal for a couple years. I even had schnitzel sandwices with a squeeze of lemon to snack on. Everyplace I had jaeger schnitzel was different but all of them in Germany were great. My favorite place had a light colored gravy with diced mushrooms. This one was brown gravy with huge chunks of wild mushrooms. Most were somewhere in between, like sliced mushrooms in brown gravy. The German schnitels were so big they hung off the side of the plate, but here they have to use a different cut of meat and it's a lot smaller. I miss the salad I got with it in Germany too. IIRC it was just cucumbers and onions wth a vinagrette type of dressing. I liked getting french fries and dipping them in the gravy too. I need to take an eating vacation across Europe.  :P

I've been living on brats, chilli, and cheese for a couple days because it was on sale. Time to nuke some more. I don't know how many cows and pigs met their demise because of me, but there will be more. I don't care what it costs either. I'll buy less if I have to but won't give up meat. I'm having turkey for Thanksgiving but genuine Honeybaked Ham for Christmas. Another pig bites the dust. My uncles had a bull so mean that after he kicked my uncle one time to many we got our revenge on the bull by eating him and his son. One time I saw my uncle "tenderize" that bull with a claw hammer when it kicked at him. Home-grown, corn fed the last 6 months, and hung for 2 weeks. YUM!!!
