Freedom of Speech?

Being a strong believer of the 2nd Amendment, I decided to get off my butt and write a letter to the editor pointing out the four major anti gun points listed on Obama's transition team web site. Sent letter through NRA-ILAs "write the media" to 6 newspapers in two state's Nov. 22. As of today number of papers the letter was published .....ZERO. Any one else had this happen?

This is very common down here.  Both our daily papers from regional centers and our weekly papers are very poor about printing pro-gun letters.  They will print both sides of the abortion debate, they will print taxation issues, and they will print both sides of religious debates.  However, they will not print gun issues.

The weekly papers publish editorial views written by senior class members of the high schools.  It is a requirement for the students of a class to write these, and the paper runs them.  This is the only place I have ever seen a pro-gun stance published.

The sad thing is that it is easy for a newspaper to not print a letter to the editor.  If you read their policies you will find they leave themselves a lot of exclusion rights that you can't attack.

Same thing here,Rarely they will print a pro gun letter, Mostly they get round filed.
Editorials ?  HA ! They DO print Michelle Malkin every week, as well as Pat Buchanan, who I do not think much of. But they off set that by printing a local RINO, and this local "educator" Prof. Leo Sandy, this dipsh!t wants the UN to run everything and wants Obama to set up a "Dept. of Peace"

This is a  Freedom of Speech issue, but not the way it's being implied here.  You're free to write as many letters or articles as you wish and you are free to mail them to everyone in the country.   You can buy your own printing press and publish an alternative newspaper if you wish. (Many people have done that.)   I may not agree with what a newspaper  decides to print or not print, but it is their freedom to do with their press as they see fit.   To force a newspaper or anyone to carry certain authors or viewpoints would trample on everyone's rights.

Whether he does or does not is meaningless

Yup.  And...I would contribute that enlightened people have the opportunity to have their letters printed and we, on the other hand, have the privilege to just shut up...now you did it...you got me on my soap box.  I was doing so well today.
