HOWEVER, you owe us some more info and pictures if you can.
What type of rifle and sights?
What is the range and where is it located? There may be others in you community that would love to find a place to shoot as well.
Here are my targets. I was shooting in three round groups to figure out where I was hitting and then making some adjustments. I forgot my screw driver and I had to tear apart a pen to get the metal clip so I could make the adjustments. The first two targets have about 25 rounds and the last 20 rounds through it. Later a guy let me borrow his screw driver. I felt a little stupid asking but he offered and gave me some shooting pointers. It has been a long time since I last shot.

I was using a JP-15

Using a Tirjicon Acog with red dot reticle (I need to sight in the red dot, took two shots and misssed completely) It was pretty easy to get it sighted in, but I was running out of daylight and it was getting cold. 4x Magnification with adjusted reticle for 100, 400 and 600 yards.

I was using Wolf 55 gr ammo (I know, cheap crap, but I have 1000 rounds and figured i should use it up)
I found the range by going on the NRA website
http://www.nrahq.org/shootingrange/findlocal.aspand they have a list of the ranges, I went and looked at several with websites and checked them out on the web to see what they had. The one I went to is in Kenmore, WA and has a 100, 300 and two pistol ranges (Archery range too) The only down side was having to the rule that you can only load one round at a time. But that is not a big deal as the provided spotting scopes and was very professional, they are also open 360 days a year. The local gun shop that my wife bought my pistol at only allows pistols and 22LR rifles, although they are inside.
