i purchased a Walther p22 about two mos. ago. Have put about 300 rounds through it. While cleaning have noticed a gouging of metal on the underside of the slide just to the rear of the extractor. There is a machined cutout in the slide, on each side, and it is the forward section of this cutout that is being gouged. this area seems to be aligned with the two ears( dogs, lugs, etc.) that are part of the trigger assy. and will rise about 1/32 inch when the trigger is squeezed, initiating recoil. Upon last field stripping I noticed fine, bright metal shavings just forward of these ears. Apparently the slide is made of aluminium as gouging is quite bright. I am using "normal 22lr ammo., remmington thunderbolt and federal champion. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Will probably send piece back to Walther for a fix. not a cheap gun and would expect better from a name brand.
