ANYBODY who owns a P22:

Do a search on-line for the "P22 bible".  You'll see exactly the problem discussed here, and how to fix it.  Then you'll kick yourself for ever buying or shooting that gun before you read it.  The guy that put the "bible" together deserves a million bucks for it!

Its a PDF you can save to your computer (hint).  And its at "rimfirecentral.com" (SUPER site, great people on it!)

The much needed standard disclaimer though:  To many people on this site "know" everything.  And only reply if they see an oportunity to show off.  So before they point it out...  What I said is ALL WRONG!

So you don't like this site???

I have had a P22 for several years.  My oldest uses it a lot, and from the box count it has well over 5000 rounds through it.  The only thing that I have ever done to it was stretch the extractor spring so it was a little better and throwing the cases off to the side.  Yes my slide has the gouges, but as S&W said, it will stop doing it after a while.  It was the only pistol out there that had a grip that was small enough.  I may just buy another one as my next child wants to start shooting it and the older one won't give it up.. :)  Or I could pony up for a bigger one.. hmm.

Yep, I am one of the positive guys.  I know several others that got them and have had positive results as well.

It's not that the site is bad at all!  Or the gun.

I like the P22 a lot.  The threaded barrel opens it up to easy addition of a silencer, and I've seen them fired with such.  SUPER impressive to me!  I even went shopping for one not long ago only to find their price inflated about $150 over what it was a few months prior to the election (same thing applies to ammo and everything gun related now).  I think in another year the panic will settle down, and prices will creep back down (trying to be optomistic), so I held off on the purchase (ended up buying a great rifle I got a deal on instead).  Having read the MANY reviews of this gun, WAY to many people have had slides crack in half and other SERIOUS problems to not read the "bible" on it, and make the modifications.  If you can make the modifications prior to firing it at all, all the better! :)

The problem with the site.   More than its share of ego maniacs.  Spout off in defense of their opinions, not facts, not trying to help anyone, just blabbing.  If more people can try to lend information and control their estrogen filled emotions, these sites are a GREAT asset to everyone, and we can all become a much smarter, better people (just my silly hopes for our country though).  People who blow up on these sites in defense of their pet rifle of whatever, or spout like teenage girls with their emotions only show complete lack of control.  Want to guess what the single most prominant thing is that'll get you killed in EVERY combat, home defense, self defense, situation???

Glad you like your gun.  Lots of people get great service from them.  I still believe 100% anybody with one could benefit from reading the "bible" that person took the time to make.  He did an outstanding job making it!  And the mods shown can really improve the weapon!

Leave your emotions at the door children.  They benefit noone.

The ones with the slide cracking are the ones with the extended barrel.  That is one of the reasons that I got the regular short barrel.  I do not remember the reason why this happens, but it has happened quite a bit at least in the internet forums.

Everything went, and still is, pretty nuts especially if it is a semi-auto, or a shotgun.
