I like all of them. Glock, HK, Para and the XD. I've shot all and would recommend the Glock to anyone who's hand will fit around it properly. The Glock 21SF isn't too thick. I'd think that with Springfield bringing out all of these XD-M's that the original XD would be a buy right now.

The original XD has 14+1 in .45 ACP...the XD(M) is coming with 19+1 of 9mm x 19...

I definately need to look at the xd and the m&p just dont have any experience with them. I own an hk usp 40 and a glock 23 and have been happy with both but there are so many different choices I wanted to find out about other models.

Why Hi-Cap may I ask?  Magazine capacity of 14 or 15 rounds of .45 ACP (230 gr) adds more that half a pound to the weight of the gun...

If I could get my hands on a Glock 36 in MA (which ain't gonna happen), I'd stop looking.

I want double stack lol because size and weight isnt really a concern. Im just looking for a good range gun to have fun blasting away with.

thanks for all the suggestions the hunt is definately my favorite part of getting a new firearm

You just missed the promo for the M&P with 4 mags, 3 holsters, hat, and OBTW, a .45 M&P.

I'm partial to my Sig P220, and if money is an issue, try the Taurus 24/7, especially the OSS version.

Yea it is kind of fun to burn through a 15 round magazine once in a while but that's why they make a Beretta 92FS...cheap and eats anything, at least mine did....but I was a kid then without any bills to pay or family to feed or clothes to buy..

Well, if he's thin enough that he still has a waist, weight on the belt doesn't matter as much. Glock 30SF might be worth looking at too, not quite as many rounds, but still plenty.

You made me check to see if the 36 is approved for CA. Hooray! A gun that is actually on the list!
