From the article:
"That's when I met Jimmy Q, an explosive ordnance-disposal expert back from Vietnam. Jimmy was typically seen in a cut-off gray sweatshirt and mirrored aviator shades and lived in a one-room apartment over his gun store. He was also the first for-real "combat shooter" (that's what we called it back then, combat shooting) I'd actually met."

MB, is this Joe Pike?

THANKS DON!!I am a late comer to the Black rifle world (been on the back burner to other shooting and collecting interests) but the more I learn the more I like the Bastard Child (as MB put it). Funny how some simple saying can stick in the mind. Always been a blued steel (or Military parked)and wood kind of guy but going to the dark side!

Yes good article indeed.  I did get somewhat inflamed by some of the silly responses, especially a guy name of Joe who thought his superior ethics would save guns as opposed to the NRA....so I vented...look for Bubba's response on July 18.

HBMan - I've been a dyed in the wool .308 guy - M1A, CETME, FAL if I can ever get my hands on one, etc. So I know how you feel. I too jumped off the deep end and got a DPMS (with a SIG 556 on order - someone got in line ahead of me (MB?) so the line is really long for that one) and have been playing catch up ever since.

As for sayings, for me, it was MB's comment that .40S&W stood for "short and weak" that sticks with me every time I see my poor little CZ40B I think of his comment. Nice gun though.
