Finally some good advice, but can I still hold my gun sideways, because I hear chicks dig that. ;D
Thanks
fightingquaker13,
about to go "bust some caps"

That's so LAST YEAR. Now you have to hold your pistol upside down.  :D

I just got a new (to me) Glock 19. It came with night sights , round metal circles around a dot. They are supposed to glow. They don't, except for the front one which sort of, kind of does.
1) What are these sights (they're fixed if that helps). Are they tritium, because if so, I ain't paying to replace them.

Why not replace them with tritium?
"Round metal circles around a dot" do NOT describe my tritium sights. I think mine are white epoxy holding a lens that lets through the glow of the tritium. They look like regular white dot sights in the day.
Tritium lasts about 10 years if you get them new. That's only about $7-8 a year. A pretty small investment IMHO.

2) What would you reccomend to replace them? My instinct is a bit of white nail polish to mimic the sights on my 17, which I love, fightingquaker13

I hate the stock Glock sights. Cheap plastic sights are not in my gameplan for a possible fighting gun. To each his own. If you want stock glock sights, you can have my old ones...I'm sure they're around here somewhere.

Meprolight sights are only $72 from Glockmeister: http://glockmeister.com/index.php?cPath=6_37
Be aware though that the rear window is a little narrow. Very accurate shooting is doable with these but quick shots took me a little practice to get used to.
All is good now.  ;)

Ameriglo are a little more, but the pair I used to have did have a wider rear notch that was able to be liined up fast: http://www.ameriglo.net/weapon_site/store_pages/glock_tritium_sights.html
Like all tritiums, they started to lose their glow after 10-12 yrs and I just replaced them 2-3 weeks ago.

I have a set of Ameriglo's that are about five years old and one of the rear dots is almost gone. I can barely see it in pitch dark.
I will probably change them out with Meprolight's (and open up the notch) or Trijicon's.

I'd recommend for anyone to drink Glock's koolaid..  umm umm Good.. :D  //  Umm on sights..  depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. And where you buy from. You can get fiber optic.. or true night sights..  depends.. others have listed some good ones.. XS sights are good.. a tad on the tall side for me.. I like trijicon or meprolights on my Glocks personally. Umm. Ameriglo's are pretty good. Tru-glos are pretty good... some like Warren sights.. for race guns.. If you want true Glo..I'd go with Trijicon or Meprolights.. depending on where you get em.. usually $80-$100.. give or take. If you don't want to spend to much... go with a fiber optic sight of some type. Another beauty of Glock all kinds of parts and accessories.. tons of sights.. and sight tools out there for them.  As to what u have now.. not sure.. u could paint them etc..// or u could change them out cheap to standard G17 plain sights.. from glockmeister... just make sure you get the correct height of sight if you change them out.. some glocks sights are different heights..  are a designated on the side of the sights with symbols that represent one of three height sizes... other wise your aiming will be off a little bit on elevation. Most people dont' know or realize this.. Hope some of that helps.
