EPISODE #11: Acquaintance Attacks
« on: March 09, 2009, 01:23:40 PM »

EPISODE #11: Acquaintance Attacks
While many women take precautions against an attack in their home or on the street from strangers, most attacks occur from someone they know. Letting your guard down around people you are familiar with makes you more vulnerable to attack. The Best Defense will show you some basic rules to follow when you are alone with someone, even someone you feel you can trust.

This topic is near and dear to me.  Tom Forman and I did a lot of good work with our Women's Assault Prevention program through Valhalla and Elk Mountain Resort.... we had both been doing it for years before hand, but when we got together, I think both our programs improved dramatically.

The advice/concepts you'll see in this episode are right out of the 3-4 hr course that I offer on the topic. The courses are strictly women only for a variety of reasons. You will not see specific techniques as much as you will get concepts for avoiding and recognizing typical attacks from the relevant segments of this weeks show! As always, the short time in TV world restricts how much we can put out, but I think the information is valuable.

ADDED: For those of you who saw the post that came after this one a few moments ago... yes, I deleted it because it was offensive to everything these segments are about. Thinking that jokes about sexual assault are "okay" is exactly part of the problem.

As I said before, can't wait to see it.  Even though this is tailored for women, it will (I am sure) remind all of us to be in condition yellow.

Rob,

Thank you,  I did not see the comment but I assume it was beyond unacceptable.

Cool

could not agree more mate
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

The show today with the young lady about to be violated by a friend is just another example of something no one else has thought of.  You guys are great and your ideas and demonstration techniques put you right in the situation so you can plan ahead.  Last weeks show of the hiker was great as well, since there are always stories of singles disappearing.  Keep up the great work.  I hope the season never ends...

One question on the use of a shotgun for home protection (I like using a shotgun, but have both pistols and shotguns available in the room I'd run to.  What shot are you recommending?  I saw a shot once where the effects of shot through walls was demonstrated so they recommended bird shot since it would be close range and the shot most likely would remain in the walls not going outside to injur a passerby.  What do you recommend?  Again,  thanks for the great shows.

Dave                       ??? ;D

This show, seriously as all of them I've seen so far since "Deescalation and Boundary Setting (e5)", was great.  I just signed onto the forum and look forward to contributing.  This may be a newbie question, but is there a section on this site that breaks down the locations (training facilities), classes mentioned, guns used and other accessories seen in each episode?

For this episode I am curious about the shotgun used in the segment dealing with accurate shotgun shooting in confined interiors of the home.  What was the make/model and any customization that was done to it?  I am looking for a reliable home protection shotgun so I can keep my trap gun happy and packed away for clay pigeon fun.

Thanks, and again, amazing series.  It's great to see a show that deals with tactical issues and responsible gun handling and the concequences of operation in various scenerios.

Nick,

Welcome on board!

Some of the episodes have show pages with links, but the links do not cover all the topics and products.

Have a look here:

Before the rerun season starts, we will go through the content and feedback and add more links to these sections.
