That was in Illinois, you know, were carrying a gun is illegal. Oh thats right the shooter was a criminal and they don't obey the law.

Tom Gresham was talking about it on his podcast and mentioned that the speed with which he transitioned from jammed pistol to knife illustrates the fact that it's not the tool thats to blame it's the flake using it.

"After a shooting spree, they always want to take the guns away from the people who didn't do it."
William Burroughs

After the "AK Ambush" here in South Florida, as the media coined it, as details of the church shooting and this one Alabama today, it won't take long for the call for "gun control" to rear it's head. (again).....

"Gun Control - A theory espoused by some monumentally stupid people; who claim to believe, against all logic and common sense, that a violent predator who ignores the laws prohibiting them from robbing, raping, kidnapping, torturing and killing their fellow human beings will obey a law telling them that they cannot own a gun."

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

SEVERAL people have been killed in a shooting spree in two towns in the southern US state of Alabama.

Police said nine people have been killed in Samson and Geneva. The gunman killed himself.

The Alabama Department of Safety said the shooting spree began in Samson. The gunman killed five people in one home and one each in two other homes. A woman was also found  between the pumps and front door of a petrol station.

One person was shot between Samson and Geneva. Among the dead are a sheriff deputy’s wife and child. Possible additional shooting sites are being investigated.

The gunman shot at a state trooper's car, striking the vehicle seven times and wounding
Geneva Police Chief Frankie Lindsey with broken glass, the Associated Press reported.

Police pursued the gunman to Reliable Metal Products just north of Geneva, where he fired an estimated 30 rounds.

The gunman then went in the business and shot himself.
“He was shooting anybody he saw,“ Geneva Mayor Wynnton Melton told The Dothan Eagle.

Samson resident Alina Knowles told the Eagle she had witnessed the horrific scene.

“You see what I saw. I went to get the baby (who lived there). There was blood all over that porch. The baby was covered in her mother’s blood,” she said.

State Senator Harri Anne Smith said: "We were briefed that it was probably one of the worst instances in Alabama history, at least in the last several years."

More to come ...

firstly I would like to pass on my condolences to the Family's that  have lost loved ones in this tragedy.

I am ashamed at the comments here
this is the wrong time to be calling for bans or more restrictions.
People have lost lives in the Illegal use of a firearm.  Every time something like this happens they are out calling for bans
it just shows what they are like. just wanting to push there own agenda and not thoughts to the families involved

it really pisses me off when they come out and just call out for the bans with out thinking of the Families

also ignore the fact that it was an illegal use of a firearm to start with so banning will do SFA

I know that someone will remember the incident and the video and bring it forward, but I remember a restaurant shooting spree where an older couple were among the killed.  There were cries for bans, and the anti's thumped their chests as they did it for the victims and the grieving families.  Then comes an interview with the daughter of the couple who praised her parents' love for one another right to the end, and she expressed her only regret in being that she left her own handgun in the car because the establishment was a "safe" gun free zone.

If you want to end the madness, treat the real issues that cause this type of violence with tools of any kind, and let the rest of us exercise our Rights.

At least 10 killed in Alabama shooting spree
By Verna Gates Verna Gates 30 mins ago

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (Reuters) – At least 10 people including the suspected gunman and his mother were killed in a shooting spree and car chase in southern Alabama on Tuesday, authorities said.

The shooter, who was in his mid-30s, killed five people including the wife of a local deputy sheriff and her 3-month-old baby at a mobile home in Samson, according to Wynnton Melton, mayor of nearby Geneva, Alabama.

His other victims included his own mother, two people killed at a convenience store and a man in a pickup truck who died during a car chase as the gunman apparently fired at random, said Melton.

The shooting began in Samson, a small town in the southeastern part of the state and ended after a car chase and gun battle in Geneva, the county seat about 12 miles away, according to the FBI and local police.

"Officer Ricky Morgan rammed his car to distract him and was rewarded with a hail of bullets," said Melton. "One bullet grazed the shoulder of police chief Frankie Lindsey."

A police officer in Geneva said the gunman "shot at several vehicles on the highway and then he shot at Wal-Mart and Piggly Wiggly," a grocery store.

A statement from the Alabama Department of Public Safety said state and local law enforcement agencies had responded to "a series of at least four shooting incidents" involving what was believed to be a lone gunman.

The suspect "left at least nine victims dead before he died from a self-inflicted gunshot," the statement said.

Police said they expected to find more victims. There was no indication of a motive for the spree in which a house was also burned in a nearby county.

Rural southeastern Alabama, which borders Florida, is a largely agricultural area with many low-income families. It relies partly on peanut crops.

Mass shootings have become a feature of life in the United States.

In one of the worst recent incidents, a gunman dressed as Santa Claus killed nine guests at a Christmas Eve party, before taking his own life in Covina, California, a suburb of Los Angeles.

On April 16, 2007, Virginia Tech, a university in Blacksburg, Virginia, became the site of the deadliest rampage in modern U.S. history when a student gunman killed 32 people and himself.

Guns are widely available for purchase in the United States, a country that prides itself on the right to own weapons for self defense and hunting.

Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

How very very sad for all the families of people concerned, whether or not concealed carry would have helped in this case will probably be debated till the cows come home, one thing is for certain it certainly would not have hindered.
As we in Australia have learned in recent times a gun is not needed to cause death, chaos and destruction to a person well motivated to cause harm, all they need do is strike a match, and instantly over 200 people die.
I'm all in favor of keeping dangerous weapons out of the hands of fools. Let's start with typewriters. - Solomon Short

Sadly, we have had yet another psycho going on a (presumably) assault weapon equipped shooting spree this one looks to be as bad as it gets. Nine victims, muliple wounded, including LEOs etc. We can only pray for the families. But be prepared for the fallout. The link is www.nytimes.com

Suzanna Gratia Hupp at Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen, TX. Laws against concealed carry killed her parents and maybe others that she may have been able to save. She later became a pre second amendment representative in the TX House of Reps in a dimocratic district. I'd have voted for her for a federal office, but she's probably too smart for that.
