While I agree with FQ's reasoning the problem is that with continued nationalization of America's economy being perpetrated by the Democrats the likelihood that we will NEED our guns against howling mobs or even more out of control government increases. While I am perfectly willing to participate in a 2nd revolution, or civil war, I would much PREFER to have my guns for use at the range, not in the streets.
The economic policies of the Democrats make their position on guns increasingly irrelevant, when the money is not there for sufficiently large hand outs the entitlement hordes will go berserk. At that time those of us who are armed will keep our safety and belongings, those who are NOT armed will have their corpses looted by the mob.

And Alito is consistent, when they come for our guns, don't look to him for help

It was his majority opinion that affirmed DC vs. Heller,  another ridiculous law DC enacted by toe-tapping liberals.

Our job is to make sure they pander to us,

Uh, Harry Reid considers you ( and me also) too stupid to be in charge of anything without the Gov't having its hand in it.

Harry Reid panders, as most politicians from BOTH parties do, to the ones that can get him re-elected.

Tom Daschle tried this, but some people in the Dakotas wised up and booted his a**! Than when BHO brought him in to be HHS Secretary, he had so many skeletons in his closet he had to withdraw.

C'mon quaker, he's telling people what they want to hear........

BULLSEYE!!!

While I will go so far as to agree with quaker that we can't necessarily count on the republicans to do the right thing, we stand a heelluva lot better chance with MOST of them than we do with Dirty Harry and his ilk.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

You misunderstand my post. I'm not saynig that the average Republican isn't more 2A than than the average Dem. Far from it. What I AM saying is that if we only tie ourselves to one party, the other is free to ignore us. This a recipe for defeat. We have to be seen as a swing vote or we're screwed. Do really think the GOP elite (big donors etc) cares about gay marriage? Hell no, they just make noise to get the fundies to the polls. The same is true of Dems and labor. Yeah, they'll make noise about card check, pass it into law, doubtful. Look at immigration though, both parties moved toward amnesty because they knew the latinos could go either way. That is were we need to be. Harbor no illusions and count on nothing more than the pols self interest. We have to demonstrate that our dedication to the ISSUE trumps party loyalty or we will be taken for granted.

IIRC the NRA has endorsed Reid in the past. And in my state, Pennsylvania, the NRA endorsed three democratic Congresscritters in the last election. (Murtha, Kanjorski and one other I don't recall at the moment).

Identifying Pro gun Dems is more important now than ever.

McCain was for the AWB.  That shows right there you can't vote party lines. Not anymore.  I'm really interested in Bobby Jindal and Mike Huckabee for President.  We really need to start putting the word out and getting some good people picked, not another Palin, or McCain.

I think we, in essence, are in agreement FQ.  For the first time in my voting life, I registered independent. Not for the swaying rhetoric of the Democrats, or the RINO candidate that was NOT my choice in the Republican Party in McCain.

I have become "turned off" by BOTH parties. They have proven themselves to be self-serving POLITICIANS!

If Sen. Reid "sounds" good today, I'm sorry his track record and previous remarks cause me problems with his ability to be trustworthy about anything.

"The job of bureaucrats is to regulate, and left to their own devices, they will try to regulate everything they can."
Steven den Beste

I don't want that in a candidate from EITHER party.

Regarding immigration,  I haven't heard anything about the "crapulus" package completing the Border Wall...

Yes. but "Murtha"? how low do we have to go?

I wouldn't have voted for that piece of sh!t if he was GIVING guns away. Hearing that the NRA support that crooked sleaze tempts me to cancel the 2 year renewal I just sent in.   >:(
