FNG here from Clarksville, TN.  Father's family can be traced back over 200 years in E. TN, Mother's Father was born in KY then moved to TX.  Mother and siblings born in Milam Co. TX (S of Waco).  I was born in Michigan and grew up in Michigan and Indiana, but have been around the world (Korea, Vietnam, Germany, Enewetak, Texas, Alabama, Virginia, Illinois, Kansas, Colorado, Hawaii, Thailand, Hong Kong, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and a whole bunch of places just passing through) during 20 years in the Army.  Now totally retired for disability, but still manage to get to the range when I can.   Currently trying to work up the right load to get 5 rounds inside an inch at 400 yds with my Model 70 in .308.   Still able to put a 15 shot group into about 2-3" at 7.5 yds with my P89 as fast as I can pull the trigger.

John

From what I been hearing.....Kimber makes the best 1911.  It's outta my price range, but all the magazines rate it at,  or about #1.  My uncle has the Taurus 1911.  I've heard good things about it, as well.  Finally, STI has the Trojan 1911, that's top of the line.  Hope that helps.

Welcome to the forum.  Enjoy!

A Kimber or Wilson 1911 has always been on my wish list. Checked out a STI at a gun show several months back and loved the feel in my hand. I will just continue to dream cause most 1911's are way over priced.

I have paras and kimbers. Prefer paras due to the wider grip(and they hold lots more rounds ;D).

Try to get your hands on one of each to see which feels better.  If it doesn't feel right in your hands you
won't enjoy shooting it or use it as much.

I fought the 1911 urge for years and finally found one I like. I have a Kimber Warrior. Nowadays if can't find a 1911 that you like you are not looking hard enough.
