So far it looks like I'm the only hoosier to respond here. Lt. James Nash from Buckinghamshire England first set foot in Sciuate,MA. around 1660 and set up a tidal mill in that area. He was my Great,Great,Great,Great,Great,Great,Great,Great Grandpa. His Great,Great,Great,Great Grandson Siemon Nash volunteered for the militia in Boston,MA. died in the French and Indian at Ticonderoga in 1759. His ocupation is listed as shipwright and sailor. His son Samuel Nash and his brother Thomas Nash were in a tavern on evening in Boston,MA. when it was decided by the patrons in that estabishment after much talk and rum to go down to the warf and throw the cargo of the Kings ship into the harbor. Samuel had a bussiness of shipping freight between Sciuate, Braintree and Boston and some other points around Cape Cod, mostly freight with out the Kings tax stamp on it. Samuel voluteered for milita duty with a infantry unit in 1775 under Capt. Thomas Bradford. When the Continental Congress decided to form a Navy of some sort, Samuel having expirence as a sailor and shipwright along with brother Thomas signed on fof duty on the U.S.S. Alliance and also Samuel served on the Bon Hame Richard under Capt. J.P. Jones. After the Revolution Samuel finally settled in Handover,MA. and made his living as a house wright. Samuel was my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandpappy. Samuel's son Luther died at an early age and Samuel took in his children to raise one of them being Jacob Nash my Great, Great Grandfather. Jacob moved to Windham,VT. around 1859 and ran a tannary and a small farm in that community. In 1874 Jacob moved his family (My Great Grandfather Frank Sumner Nash) west to a farm between Tyner, IN. and Walkerton, IN. My Grandfather Cornelius Henry (Neal) Nash was born on that farm in 1890. In 1910 C. H.(Neal) Nash married my Grandmother Mae Bolenbaugh or Bolenbaugher as it was earlier known by her Ohio ancesters in the later 1790's. Neal worked that farm and my father Gail Nash was born there in 1914. In 1924 Neal hired out to a man in Mishawaka,IN. that had a 400 acre farm and need a manager to run that farm. My father Gail worked for several different farmers in the Mishawaka area and in 1940 went to work as a dairy herdsman for St. Mary's College in South Bend, IN. Dad recieved his draft notice in August of 1942 so he sold his 32 Ford Coupe and told Mother Superior that he was leaving on the 15th of that month to report for duty in Indianapolis. Mother Superior made a trip to the next draft board meeting and told them that the saloons and pool halls of South Bend were full of loafers that could be made in to soldiers and sailors and that Mr. Nash already two brothers in the Army and one brother in the Navy and they needed him at the college to keep the dairy going, Dad was defired from military service. That bothered him for some, but when his brother Max was KIA in September of 1943 at the landing at Salerno,Italy and his cousin was KIA in August of 1944 over the Asiatic Sea, he got over that feeling, too many funerals in a short time in the family. In 1953 Neal Nash and my father Gail bought the farm in Warsaw,IN. where he now lives here with me and my family. I was born in 1962 and lived on this place my whole life. I have been with the county sheriffs department since 1985. Dad is now 95 and still cuts firewood mows the grass and runs a small sharping bussines everyday, guess that is what keeps him going. From my family history you can see why I get down angry when whinny liberals cry for firearms bands, bad mouth our military and veterns and act dumb enough to think that the police will always be there to protect them from thugs and sh!tbags then cry foul when the cops cann't be at their beckoned call because the were busy with other calls and Mr. or Ms. liberal is too chickensh!t to defend them selves. Well anyway I'll step off the soapbox and concider myslf lucky to be in good company here at the DRTV forum. God Bless America and God Bless Us All even the Liberals who don't believe in him.
