All the above mentioned rifles I'm sure are fine guns but the mini 14 calls to me. It is just one of those rifles I have always wanted, I think it was from watching the A Team when I was a kid.

You do remember those guys never manged to actually hit anybody right? ;D You're right about relabilty though. I never shot mine all that heavily but the two or three years I owned it it never jammed, not once. If you scope it I think three inches is easily doable. If it floats your boat, thats all that matters, but I would invest in at least four or five mags, because AWB aside, you never know when ruger might stop making them. Have fun with it.

Good looking rifle.

Bill Ruger Sr. must be turning over in his grave though, as much as he was the author/enabler of the last "Assault Weapon Ban".

While I agree with you in spirit, Bill did ten times more for firearms enthusiasts then you or I will ever do. I can't really bitch about the man with a blackhawk, 10/22 and M77 in my closet. Se la vie. :-X

+1  I really wish people would stop grinding their Bill Ruger axe. Bill Ruger did not "ban" assault rifles, he manufactured them.   Bill T.

Look I own several Rugers P89,P90,P95,GP100,SP101,10/22,PC9,and mini6.8. I only have one thing to say they all work and i can depend on them 100% of the time. As for MOA mini please the gun is not perfect but it does do one thing well shoot shoot shoot.

It hurts me deeply to say this (I own half a dozen Rugers and love them all!), but we were at Gander Mountain last weekend and I picked up a new Mini 14 just to look it over.  The reciever, bolt carrier, bolt, trigger mechanism, pretty much everything other than the barrel was cast so rough it looked 100 times worse than the surplus rifles all around it.  The finish looked like grey spray paint over the cast parts...  I know companies have to cut costs...  But MAN!  If the new ones are all like that, look for an older used one and rebuild it with whatever parts you like.

I pulled the bolt back and slowly let it close on that rifle a couple times.  It felt like somebody dumped a hand full of sand in there...  Even jammed opening and failed to close once! Looked clean, didnt see any debri, but the surface of ALL the parts was pitted like a sponge. :(

I couldnt believe my eyes, even did a double and tripple check to be SURE it was a "new" rifle.   Hopefully it was just some weird fluke :-\.

My dad just got a Miny and at 50 yards I would not be surprised if me or my dad could hit a quarter at that range and it would be the gun I would go for if I could pick one gun and go and survive with it for any period of time, depending on how much ammo I had, which probably wouldn't be a problem for a good time.
