I myself carry a G26 and love the little pecker. I use G19,G26, and 33rnd mags for it something the G36 can't do.

I am going to add my insightful, and at the same time brilliant observation on the matter.   ;D  <-------- sarcastic grin y'all.

I would go with the 26 over the 36.  I am a GLOCK flag waver to be sure...but the 36 is the one Glock I own (and I own one or two of each model except the Glock 18) that I don't like a lot.  It is a handful in .45acp.  The grip frame pounds the holy crackerjacks out of my two middle fingers.  The 26 is a little fire-breather.  Accurate, reliable, and holds 10 rounds with another in the pipe.  It will also, as mentioned by others here, function with all 9mm mags for other Glock models, or take +2 floorplates for a little gun with a big gun attitude and ballistoc payload.

I own both, and NEVER carry the 36.  The 26 is MUCH easier to shoot fast and accurately.  I am not particularly recoil sensitive, but the 26 is a sub-compact pistol that can be counted on just as much a full size boomer.

For those who decry the 9mm as a mouse caliber...will you volunteer to catch a few?  I like the 9mm, I trust the 9mm, and have used it to save my life and the life of my partner.

Do I DISLIKE the .45acp?  Nope....I have deep and abiding love for the big thumper...but for  a sub-compact pistol...I go with the Glock 26 any time.

Just my not-too-humble-yet-always-correct opinion.   ;D
God bless, and sincere thanks to all our fine people in uniform.  You pay for our freedom, and for that we owe you all we can give you.  Thank you.

Guys thanks for the advice. I am pretty much sold on the 26. I was leaning that way but the reinforcement was helpful. Now comes the next question. My range got in a rental 26. Its an older model and has obviously been shot a lot. BUT I put fifty through it with only one ftf and that could have been an ammo problem as the round when fired the next time went through. The question is, assuming that stuff is worn, is there anything such as springs, barrels etc that I can't replace for a few to maybe one hundred or so dollars? Because the asking price is $350 and I can probably do it all on trade. If I have to drop $100-$200 in repairs later, no problem. If its just plain shot out.... problem. Any thoughts?

Sounds like an OK deal. You can get most any part, some way more than others, but the basic stuff is relatively cheap.

The barrel would be the most expensive, but with aftermarket barrels, you can shoot reloaded ammo.

Send it in to Glock for a tune up and they will do all that for you...... and I think it is all free.

Hell, that would be a bargain.   ;)

That sounds about average. That's what they are for standard barrels at Glockworld, but I've never done business with them.

I own a G26 (among others) and did have a G36.
The G36 was the only Glock I've ever fired (including range guns) that had failures to feed.Gun gone.

I've read elsewhere that the G36 was a troubled soul in its early life, but that the gun has been fixed and now runs well.Too late for me since I axed it.
The G26 is a great CC gun; I can carry it in a pocket holster in cargo pants all day long and not be noticed.
One thing I did before buying was try both the G26 and G27 range guns. Both were fine, but weak hand drills for me were not as good with the .40 as with the 9.Decision made.
I also have the G39 (small .45 GAP) and the G30SF, but that's a different story.
As to your choices, I'd go with the G26 and use G19 or G17 mags for reloads.(Or the 33-rounder if you're so inclined)
