That SMILIE MARINE is wherever I want to put it!(Channeling R. Lee Ermey) >:( Seriousley though, we have cut these barbarians way too much slack since the cold war. Just like every third rate dictator in Latin america thought they could walk on water if they denounced the reds, we have let the Saudis peddle their nonsense for far to long. Its not Bush, its not Obama, it goes back to Ike, and every president since. Even after we saved their butts in the first Gulf War, there is no grattitude, just a sense of entitlement. This particular tail has wagged the dog for far too long.

Well, I've got to say, that as much as I'd like to stop Bush bashing, its just too much fun. As the great Dr.Thompson said, kicking a man when he's down is a classic for a reason, and a whole lot easier on the knees. ;)

Reasons #42 and #1 why it is tough taking you at all seriously.  Engaging in a pointless activity while fun is still pointless, and in this case, ultimately misses the mark by focusing on trivialities and quirks rather than the substantive issues that could be addressed.

Either fight or be a Quaker - you can't be both, you can only be an oxymoron. And not in a funny George Carlin way either. Like the Jews for Jesus, you can't have it both ways no matter how much you want it or think it's cute or funny - or even representative of deep thought.

Here is some perspective from Ed Morrisey

http://hotair.com/archives/2009/04/03/obamateurism-of-the-day-12/

Quote
We covered this yesterday when it happened, but in my estimation, the worst amateur moment thus far in the Obama presidency came when the President of the United States executed a bow to a monarch so deep that he literally had to take a step back to balance himself. Not just any monarch, either, but one of the most repressive among those nations friendly to the US. Interestingly, this came just after Barack Obama met with another monarch, and the contrast between Barack Obama’s show of respect is striking. I put together this video to demonstrate it:

Video of him bowing for Queen Elizabeth vs Saudi King (vastly different)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gJtIss7xso

Quote
People criticized George Bush for holding hands with the Saudi king, but holding hands does not signify submission to another’s authority, and certainly not in the manner that Obama’s bow does here. Holding hands is a sign of friendship. And for those who believe that a bow is another sign of friendship, note that Obama didn’t execute a bow like this for the Queen of the UK, and the Saudi monarch doesn’t bother to reciprocate, either.

And I’m certain that Obama’s fans will try to rationalize this, but my good friend Scott Johnson at Power Line notes that the DU had already put together a defense of Michelle Obama if she didn’t curtsy when meeting the Queen

And President Obama shouldn’t have bowed to the Saudi monarch, either.  No American President should ever make such an obsequious display to any monarch — ever.

Everything I needed to learn in life I learned from Country Music.

Oh, Pathfinder, be of good cheer. We're all friends here, I hope. :) No need to let something as absurd as politics get peronal.

To answer your points though, bashing Bush is not pointless. Particularly when talking about obsequisness to the Saudis. They are the ones who are exporting the radical Wahabi sect of Islam globally and at state expense. Who do you think pays for all those madrassas? The royal family does it to keep the mullahs happy, and send the radicals overseas. Hell, they were holding Jery Lewis style telethons for hamas suicide bomber's families post 911. Bush never said a word. The point here is that I never saw a lot of complaint from the righ about this. Now that Obama did something boneheaded though, its like y'all have just discovered that the saudis aren't our friends. I'm not upset about criticing Obama its just lets please not think Aha! we've got him now for making a dumbass rookie mistake (lets remember this is the guy who bought the British PMs gifts at Blockbuster). Lets also be very aware of how previous administrations, W. in particular, have taken far too much crap from the Saudis. This didn't start january 20th.
As for the fighting quaker thing, it is the name of the football team at a college where I taught. No one took them very seriousley either, but then its kind of hard to be Quaker linebacker. Do I run the guy over or not? :-\ Quakers fight!Quakers fight! Kill Quakers kill!! ;D

Tell me I didn't see BHO wearing knee pads in an accompanying picture....

I gotta tell ya, this says more of his staff than it says of BHO.  Consider he should have been briefed on the way as to etiquette, and he apparently was not, that's my assumption.  I will not just blame his staff, as his choice of staff says more about BHO, than it does about his staff.

Just goes to show, just because you make good in Chicago does not mean you are ready for the REAL world.
