Bought a used AR-24K. So far so good.No expert you understand but seem's to use the best parts of

CZ & Browning HI Power combined . But then I only have about 100 round's thru it. Just got it last week.

I like it so far . K is the compact all steel forgings fixed sights 13 in the mag,16 in the AR-24. Made inTurkey.

Cut rifling not button. Manual safety,Auto firing pin block safety,Inertial firing pin ,Loaded chamber indicator

Auto disconnector,And half-cock notch.

I have not seen one yet used, so you got a good find there tumblebug.

I figured that I would not see a full size used one for at least another year or so.

OK...I'll try not commit Sig heresy, I do have one, but I don't have a 9MM (not counting the .380) and thought I've got to add one to the collection.

So...does anyone out here have experience with one of the Armalite AR-24's.  It looks a lot like the CZ 75B...so if it's not really kewl I'll get another CZ.

Thanks guyz,
Ken
Hey Rastus!...
I went to that open house at the indoor range and had a ball- I think I'll chronicle the six different guns I tried out in a new thread, but one was the AR-24.
A very sleek looking 9mm, the AR-24 I fired seemed almost new- there was no wear on it anywhere. The detailing, while plain, is sleek.
The magazines seemed kind of crappy and I'm not sure if they were standard or had been provided by the range.
I fired about 100 rounds through the thing and I enjoyed it. The angle from grip to sight line is pretty natural and it was pretty accurate- not "knock your socks off" accurate, but quite serviceable. Recoil wasn't bad and it felt good in the hand.

The firing went well except twice the last casing didn't eject, instead falling out through the mag well when I ejected the magazine. Not sure how that happens or even COULD happen, but it did.
Other than that little thing, the gun operated well and was fun to shoot. I have a Sig 2022 and I think that or the 226 are better built guns, but for $200 + less it would be worth trying out. If I were shopping for a second 9mm I might go Beretta, CZ, or ...well, there's so many. I'm not going to run out and buy one, but it was a fun pistol.

Yes, I have to give them back...or pay for them. And I won't lie to you...I do usually get a good price...although not always. Perversely, Sig gives me a really crappy buyout, and I have to wait forever for my T&E guns. Am still waiting for the 556 I was going to get in April!!! LOL!

My inclination, if I'm in the bucks, is to add the gun to my collection, because sooner or later I'm going to need it for a comparison or another test or to video.

Also — and this is a SUPREME rationalization!!! — I feel like because I am a professional in the field, I SHOULD be spending a certain amount of money on hardware, because it is how I keep myself sharp and on top of the field. One of my competitors makes it a point of saying that he always returns — and never buys guns — that's because he once told me that for the life of him he didn't see what I liked so much about guns and shooting! I love guns and shooting, and the only way you learn more is by shooting stuff.

I just purchased a Walther P-1, the alloy frame version of the WW2 P-38, because I haven't shot one in years and the price was right. I have a deposit on a semiauto version of a Czech Skorpion .32 ACP subgun that hopefully is coming into the country. I'm always in the market for older S&W N-frame or Ruger Flat-top revolvers....

I love what I do, and when I'm bored, I go to the range!

Whichever of your competitors said that,
A.) Is In the WRONG Business, and
B.) IS NUTTS! Doesn't see what we love so much about shooting... What's wrong with that guy?
The only thing I hate about shooting guns is CLEANING the damn things!

I would LOVE to get paid to shoot guns! Just think.... All my Ammo and holsters would be business expenses that I could write off! ;D

Michael, just out of curiosity, how long do they usually give you before you have to send it pack or send the check?

Thank you for the information....I guess I'll wait to see one in the store rather than order one through Gunbroker.  Can you compare it to the CZ 75B?

Thanks,
Ken

No, I can't compare it. I've looked at CZs several times but never fired one. I guess you could wait for Michael to test one...

On the last casing not ejecting and falling out when you release the magazine..  I have heard of that on other makes as well (XD was one), although I am not so sure that I have experienced it myself.  From what I have read it has to do with the last case not being supported by the round below it, and not being held tight enough to the breech face by the extractor, so it slips down.

I would love to get my hands on one and compare it to my 75, although I am hoping/waiting for a .45acp version.
