Just was watching CNN (forgive me Lord ) and they were interviewing Capt. Murphy who is the father of one of the officers on the Alabama. He is an instructor also at the Mass. Maritime Academy. The father teaches the young sailors a course on hijacking and pirates. As part of the course they do have small arms training. They showed the kids shooting handguns on the Academy range. I am pleasantly surpised that they are realistic about firearms.

WASHINGTON, April 9 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama declined to answer reporters' questions on Thursday on a hostage crisis off the coast of Somalia, where a U.S. ship captain is being held captive by pirates.

Obama was asked to comment on the situation several times by reporters at a White House event on refinancing for homeowners. Obama, however, stuck closely to the script and replied that he wanted to remain focused on housing.

You are 100% wrong on this point at least. This is an ongoing hostage stand off. These guys have sat phones and are in contact with their guys who are sure as hell watching tv on web. If POTUS starts thumping his chest, it could undercut any strategy the navy is employing. Right now the smart thing todo is shut the hell up, and let the commander of the destroyer do his job. After our guy is out, and or the pirates are dead is the time for ultimatums. Right now any statment in MHO would be tactically stupid and irresponsible.

If we get these pirates, which I am sure we will, I'm sure BHO will try with all his might to get someone else to try these pirates.  He will try to pawn them off on Kenya or the Hague.  That is one thing I liked with the previous Prez.: he would just take these guys, send them to Gitmo, give them a trial (tribunal) sooner or later, and go from there, if some other country wanted to do it a process would have been set up to find who.  BHO will try to find someone else to do our work for us, You mark my words.

hang the dirty rat bastards!!!! we had navy personnel aboard for passage through the persian gulf, and they say that many of these guys are being chased down right to their own homes and 'taken care of' and so it should be. apparently they haven't done a well enough job. anyway, in the 'VERY' politically incorrect opinion of all that I work with, these guys should not even rate a trial. we catch you in the act, you die.
yeah, so, anyway, I guess the cat's out of the bag now isn't it, Deepwater is nuts.

If you have pirates on the high seas leave them to the US Navy.  They know what to do.  Give the commanders the authority to strike inland.  A few 500 pounders every now and then should do the trick.
