What is the best scope for .308 700 Rem.

For Christmas my dad just got me a Rem. 700 and I don't know whats the best scope for it and what power. I want to use it for competition and also for hunting. HELP!!!!!

What kind of competition? What kind of hunting? At what range?    Bill T.

Well the competition would be long range and where I hunt the range can go out to maybe 150 yards and the competition wold probably be out to 300-500 yards.

I knew NY was somewhat out of touch with the rest of the world, but Christmas in April?  Well, of course, if my Dad offered, I wouldn't turn down a present regardless of the time of year.

I'm assuming Schmidt and Bender is a little out of the question.  (3-12x50 PM LP II would be nice)  Or take a look at Bushnell 6500 series or Nikon Monarch series.

Well I got on the 25th of December of corse, but we haven't got around to it because over the break and since the snow melted we've bean play with the other toys in the toy box we have here.

Nikkon or Leupold. If you're going to shoot competitively, get something with a bullet drop compensator.

Now we know the distance, now what size targets, and how much time do you have to adjust the sights between shots or relays for different yardages, are you shooting  Metallic silhouette?
