I'd consider looking at doing two things....

....have a holster mounted for the times you're in the vehicle, at least a Level II like a Serpa...

...and have a safe bolted to the frame where you keep the gun when not in the vehicle.

Best of both worlds....  8)

However, I have been looking at mounting mine on the driver's door panel.  By putting it low and toward the front of the panel it is easily accessible with either hand.  The one on the link above is great for a left hand draw only and is slightly behind me ... I'm getting too old for such contortions  :-\

Ain't enough seat next to you to put a gun on in a minivan. Unless you're on the back seat..... Which my van no longer has....... ;D
