Maybe if we get rid of enough lefties and even some moderate Republi-crats in 2010, we won't have to worry about any Senate leaders or  House speakers from the left anymore. That sounds like a great Thanksgiving present to give BHO next year! How many seats are up in each anyway?

The Senate is 36 seats in 2010 and the entire House is up for re-election, all 435 members.

FQ - Your points are good and valid, except that you're overlooking one thing.  Assuming that the seats OTHER than Reid's remain static, the simple act of electing a republican into Reid's Senate seat erases the dem's super-majority in the Senate.  Granted, we get stuck with Chucky Schumer (aka, the antichrist) as majority leader, but it puts the republicans in the position of having SOME (albeit precious little) power in that body.  And prcious little is better than being run over, roughshod.

Or am I missing something stupidly obvious?
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

None of this would be a problem if Congress had term limits!

I always thought it should be set up that you needed three terms before you get a retirement (graduated) and that after your first term you had to step down for one term berfore running for re-election.

Thats a pretty good idea. I don't like kicking people out arbitrarily if they're doing a good job, that should be up to the voters. But your plan would at least let them run again with a new guy for comparison. The thing is though, that any change will require a constitutional ammendment. I woldn't hold my breath waiting for that one.

Senator Reid's popularity may be skating on thin ice, but the Republican Party in Nevada has no one to compete against him seriously.  Also, the Nevada state Republican Party is in shambles after last year's fight over delegates to the national convention.  Ron Paul supporters versus John McCain supporters created a wound that has yet to be healed.  Remember too that Nevada is a Blue state now with Democrats holding more registered voters.  They delivered our electoral votes to the Messiah.  While my pal Dean Heller's seat in Congress is probably secure, expect a Democrat sweep in 2010 in all other races.  How many of these Democrats will be Blue Dogs remains to be seen.
