That is why I like my Robinson XCR, and the new Ruger, or Sig ARs. They use larger AK style pistons with recoil springs so you can fold the stocks and you don't get that "ping" sound in your ears like a traditional AR style. And they will run even after being placed in mud, sand, or water.
+1 on the new Ruger for that very reason. Even though they contracted out a lot of the parts on this new platform, it still seems very cool. I like the 2 stage piston drive and Ruger's typical super overbuild. The 556 is high on my list as a best of both worlds choice. Reliability, accuracy and a Ruger. High dollar, but I'm working on it anyway.

Another +1 on the Ruger.  Has the AR platform ever been known as low cost?  No.  With aproximately 100,000 parts suppliers in the nation what would be going through their heads to NOT outsource!?!  Lowers their costs, gets them proven quality, gives them the options they want.  Win, win, win!

And the final product comes from a reliable source (Ruger) to you the end user.  WIN! ;D
