How come they never have a war in a place you might WANT to go to, like the Riviera ?

We did have a war in southern France.  15 August-14 September 1944.

Not a fun summer for the 7th Army.  Audey Murphy was involved in this assault.  Fought all the way to the German border before he was hurt too bad to continue.

Yes Operation Husky I think it was called, The British were very resistant to the idea, they wanted to go to Yugoslavia ( another sh!thole ). You will note that "They" , Like the Japanese, got the troops out of the nice weather as fast as they could.
Another point, both comments highlight the fact that we have fought only in miserable sh!tholes for over 60 years.

The S&W M+P in .40 cal.

25 yds. with Georgia Arms 180gr. FMJ. with a hangover, and not wearing my prescription glasses.

It is proving itself (IMHO, as I knew it would), ;), to be one hell of a fine pistol.

Carried a .38/.357 Smith and Wesson, later a Beretta 92F, a M-16/or GAU-5A, Remington 870 or Remington Wingmaster 1100, a M-60, a M-16 with M203, or a Mark-19 or was a assistant gunner for the heavier weapons as a Air Force Security Policeman. Afterwards I carried a Smith and Wesson 6906 and switched to a Glock 17, 22 and now a 21SF.

I am not LE either but have insight on local LE carry pieces.  Almost everyone here carries Glock.  You will find a few Sheriffs who have teh choice carry 1911.
My brother works for Brinks Armored Car.  He carries a S&W 4046(holy crappy gun), but teh company is slowly switching to M&P .40's.

When I worked Armored Car I carried either my 1911, Browning HiPower or S&W Mod 19,Depending on who I was working with and what they carried(ammo interchangeability) with my S&W AirLite J-frame in an ankle rig. I also had access to a Mossberg 590 and would carry an American Derringer in .357 Mag in my cargo pocket. Also had a Gerber MultiPlier and a Kershaw Scallion with a serrated edge

When I started in LE back in the late 1970's it was a 4-inch S&W Model 66, stainless .357, with a 2-1/2 inch model 19 as a back-up.  From there we went to the Beretta 9mm's.  Since I left they went first to S&W 4566, and now have gone to S&W M&P.45's.

Of course we also had AR's, S&W 12 ga. pump shotguns with an 8 round mag, and a few other fun toys.  Ah, the good old days!!
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

Fine pistol, indeed. The only problem is a trigger, long and "lawyer-proof" out of the box. I did a trigger job the other day and now it's about 4lbs and brakes like a glass rod. Took about a hour.

Local PD all SIGs

Duty weapon was the M9, M500, M14, and M16A3 (Navy Security)
Now I don't have to worry about it and can shoot whatever.  Glock 17, 23, M&P9, 1911A1 Commander, AR15 (M4), and M500.  The G17 was a police turn in and the AR and 500 are set up similar to my former duty weapons.
When seconds mean the difference between life and death, the police will be minutes away.

You are either SOLVING the problem, or you ARE the problem.
