Anybody else have this much fun on Friday?

We had a nice gentle rain lasting about an hour Friday evening. Here are the results from the local paper.

As of Sat. morning, we were officially labeled a disaster area.

Several years ago I turned on the tv news only to see my sister and a couple of her kids.  They were driving down the highway beltway around Minneapolis/St. Paul and came to a flooded underpass.  She stopped half way down the slope, but couldn't back up due to other traffice stopped behind her.  She walked up the nearby ramp and called her husband.  When she returned to the underpass she saw her car float away and sink.

Never a good situation.  Hope life loss is none or minimal.

Thoughts and prayers for the folks in the stricken area.

Hey JC5123,

I hate to see anyone go through such misery. I hope that you and yours were high and dry.

My prayers go out to those who are affected and in need.

Appreciate the thoughts guys, but no injuries. Maybe some pride was hurt. But that's only because some idiot tried to drive through 3 feet of water in a Volvo. We had a lot of property damage, but no one hurt. Hard to believe we had THAT much water in less than an hour.

Glad no one was injured......pride will heal.

Take care.

Water rises quickly...even if it ain't raining where you are at the time.

Just last week we had three guys get trapped on some rocks in the middle of the Flint River about 35 miles from me. They waded out to do some fishing in the middle and an hour later they were trapped and had to be rescued from rising water. I heard it was due to a combination of some up-river rain an a spillway release.

Hope things get better for you and yours JC.  Water is a dangerous thing, more power than most people realize.  Glad you and the family are safe..

Here in the Northeast we have had more rain than that, but least we got it spread out over 2 months.
