Can I lie and say every time I shoot or should I admit my sinful sloth? :-[ I sure hope that they didn't mean that was REALLY a big sin. If so, my wife is goin' to heaven, but I got no chance. I clean them when they stop going bang (well, my .45 I keep clean- because if it doesn't go bang I might rush that trip to hell.)

well, It depends on the gun. If it's one of my carry guns they get checked out, cleaned weekly, On the other hand I have some guns in my safe that I haven't shot in years, Those get taken out and checked every couple of months and cleaned and re oiled yearly. My CAS guns get cleaned after each shoot and detail stripped and cleaned at the end of the season

My grandfather taught me to clean my guns after every shooting. I always have and always will. It may not always be the same day but it definitely will be no longer than the second day after shooting. This practice does keep me from taking more than 3 or 4 guns to the range on most occasions. If I'm taking friends, I may take a little larger assortment. Wipedowns occur after each fondling.

I love the smell of gun oil and powder solvent. Every pistol has a gun rug or case and all rifles have cases. Just the way my grandpa learned me. ;D

Hard for me to define.  I put 250 rounds because a typical club match is 100 - 150 rounds, and I'll clean every other time.  I wipe down with silicone cloth when I put them away everytime, but cleaning is different.

In prep for a big match I'll clean, practice, clean, shoot twenty or so rounds and put away "dirty."

Small bore I clean after every match - 100 rounds or so.  Hunting guns are cleaned after every day in the field.  However, the "depth" of cleaning varies based on the climate and the amount of shooting.  My Benelli got over oiled once and jammed from dust build up.  I dumped a coffee thermos through it to flush it and keep it going.  Even though it had only a few rounds that day, we had the owners manual out, and that thing was stripped as far as the book would tell plus a little.

Muzzle loader gets cleaned and oiled everytime it is used and even in between when it hasn't been shot.  But, even with the modern powders it still has a nasty barrel.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

I like em to be pretty, but I hate cleaning. If an actual SHTF gun of our home has a big, nasty range day, she gets cleaned. Otherwise, there is no set rule. It might be after 250, 500 or 1,000 rounds, but probably a Bore Snake run through after the range. Sometimes, you just get bored, or want to spend some time with the guns and enjoy taking them apart.

I clean after every trip to the range or hunt.  I enjoy cleaning weapons, I'm also the sucker that cleans everybody's guns after a day dove hunting. :P  I've gotten really good after a couple of years of cleaning them.  The only gun I don't enjoy cleaning...Marlin 60.

Binge cleaner here.

I'll get on a roll sometimes and clean a pile of them at one time, even if they don't really need it.

Handguns after every 50 to 100 rounds give or take.....depending on how dirty the ammo is.

Hunting rifles before and after season....unless they get wet.

it depends on the gun, how many rounds and if I've had a malfunction.

guns are always wiped down after a range trip.  rather I do more then that, it just depends.

Me too, except the hunting rifles.  The 22's might go 100 rounds, the 17's I'd like to clean after every trip...usually a couple of weeks or later after.

For the non-scoped centerfires...I don't shoot them during season and will wipe them down and run a patch through them a couple of times during the season...for scoped guns...I always clean and lube when I bring them home.  The scoped guns are for accuracy, or feigned accuracy in my case...anyway, I take it that first shot is going to be from a clean, cool, lightly oiled barrel.  I'm concerned about followup shots and really want MOA less for 3 shot group strings....that's about all I think you'll get.  But what I do to sight in is to shoot groups from a cool, lightly oiled barrel....it takes forever to confirm zero that way but I have found that my group size for that first shot doing so is way sub-MOA in some of my weapons.  I've a SAKO in .270 that consistently shoots dime sized groups at 100 yards shooting cool barrel, clean barrel, lightly oiled barrel...but I digressed...

it depends on the gun, how many rounds and if I've had a malfunction.

I guess that is really where I am overall, like you TAB.  Did I say that.........aaarrrrrgggghhhh!!!

On the poll 9 people say that they clean after every time they shoot, but the comments make it sound like Texas-Bry and I are the only ones. Waaaas up? ;D
