Coming to this party late.... I read the first few posts, but admittedly did not wade through 3 pages... if this has been covered, I apologize, but it is important enough to hear again:

The cavernous opening behind the magazine well is there for a REASON.  When you install the aftermarket "grip plug" (which provides zero function), you make it harder to get a grip on the magazine should you need to force it out during a complex malfunction clearing ("double feed", etc).

Don't use them, they are another useless, potentially dangerous, aftermarket gimmick.

For a shoulder stock.
Sorry this was the 1st pict I came across, a Steyr M series and not its cousin.
I think the stock came from IGB in Austria

And it should stay there, as it is a felony here in the US. It's also just kind of silly anywhere. A man who would own that would order a chocolate Martini in public. (and I love love Glocks)

No it is not a Felony, it is a class 3 firearm, pay the ATF tax and you are good to go. There was a model of HK (forget which one ) that when you attached the Shoulder stock it enabled full auto fire. (I THINK it was the VP 7 )

The VP70 is capable of shooting 3 shot bursts with the stock attached. It's the only pistol that can do that.

Not bad for an article I read 25+ years ago.

Thank you Rob. Your advice is duly noted regarding mag. access during a complex failure where the mag needs to go to replace PDQ.

I have seen proof the G21 can endure torture of all kinds, and if the reason for the "gap" has a reason for mag. access, than that means something.

I spent a total of $12 for the plug with shipping. If it restricts access to the mag in case of "anything", than I'll leave it out.

Thanks again for your expertise and experience.

No matter how unlikely a mag. issue is, if it needs to come out, I want it out without fumbling...

I will do some weak hand and other snap cap drills when I get it via the big brown truck.. with and without the plug.

Being left handed, I probably stacked the deck already... ::)

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Rob is, obviousley 100% right here. If you slide your finger up the the grip, you'll note that there is a gap that is then filled by the rear, mag wall (don't know the technical term). This wasn't an oversight it was deliberate. The same is true in other "loose" elements of the pistol as well. It is designed to run dirty and be easy to access, clean, and be back in action. Why the Army didn't adopt these in .45 I will never understand. ( I know its because of the lack of safety but we did fine with DA revolvers for how many years)? It really is the AK of pistols.

Was just sitting here checking out my Glock 21 SF (there isn't a plug made for it that I am aware of yet) and my other Glocks do have plugs. I do see what Rob Pincus is talking about. Makes perfect sense and thanks for the input Rob. I will be removing the plugs from my other Glocks now. You can learn alot from a Pincus.  ;)
