I have a Colt Government model and a Colt Combat Commander Lightweight. I think both are series 80, but not handy to double check. Any suggestions on good reliable magazines for these. I don't know much about 1911s.
Thanks.

My S&W came with Wilson Combats. I heard good things about them, and that is all I have bought for it except for two McGregor 10 rounders.
They are eight rounders, come with bumpers already installed, and have never given one hicup. I load them to the full eight every time and they are just like the EverReady Bunny

I'd highly recommend Check-Mate magazines (they make the OEM magazines for Colt and other high end 1911 manufacturers to their specifications).....really superb quality, especially model CM 45-7-S-H (7 round) and CM 45-8-S-H (8 round)....which have hybrid feed lips that make them ultra reliable. In addition, this model is made of stainless steel with welded, drilled and tapped floor plates, and flat dimpled followers....all great things to have in a 1911 magazine, especially for a defensive handgun. Check-Mate have won over 400 government contracts since they started business in 1974.

Also, Wilson Combat ETMs work very well for me and provide a reliable 8 rounder.

I have a couple of Wilson ETM mags I use in my Para along with the stock Para mags. No problems with either. I have had a few problems with a McCormick 10 rounder.
Both the Government and the Commander use the same size magazine.
