Bad week for bad guys
Last week was a bad one for would-be robbers around the state.
On Saturday, a man returning to his apartment in Orlando was stopped by two men who tried to hold him up, OrlandoSentinel.com reports. When one pointed a gun at him, the victim pulled his own gun, killing the gunman, then held the other until deputies arrived. The victim also carried a concealed weapon permit.
On Friday, a Brinks security guard shot and killed a would-be robber who attacked him while he was making a routine stop at a South Miami-Dade health clinic, the Miami Herald reports.
And starting the week on Sunday in Bristol, a 24-year-old man used a toy pistol to hold up an 82-year-old bar owner. During a struggle, the victim managed to reach his own pistol, a .357 magnum, and shot the robber dead, according to newsherald.com of Panama City.
