Prayer for my wife and also my Uncle

I would like to ask for prayers for my wife Amy as we move forward into the unknown. We will be consulting later this week with an oncologist to see what the diagnosis and treatment is for her. The tentative pre-diagnosis from a CT scan is lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes).

We have much hope, as all cases are individual and different. A gentleman at our church just celebrated one year cancer-free after a stage four diagnosis and an old friend from the church that my grandfather preached at thirty years ago just celebrated his tenth year cancer-free after a late-stage lymphoma diagnosis.

I would like to take the opportunity to share a scripture from Psalms that has always been a favorite of mine to go to:

Psalm 25

 1 Unto thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul.

 2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

 3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

 4 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.

 5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

 6 Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

I would also like to share a prayer that I found framed and hanging in a room at the Carl Vinson VA Hospital in Dublin, Georgia.
I first read it on one of our many trips taking my father-in-law to a doctors visit. The true power of the prayer didn't really sink in until I took the time to copy it down on paper and then re-read it one morning at 3:00 AM.


Confederate Soldier's Prayer
(written by an anonymous confederate soldier, US civil war)

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve,
    I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.

I asked God for health, that I might do greater things,
    I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.

I asked for riches, that I might be happy,
    I was given poverty, that I might be wise.

I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men,
    I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.

I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life,
    I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.

You and Amy are in our prayers, always!  You and I know the strength of spirit that exists in people and I'm sure your wife is strong beyond belief.  You be strong for her as she was for you my friend!

My dad lived many years with lymphoma. It remitted, came back, got treatment and remitted a few times.

My prayers for Amy for many many many healthy years with her family on Earth.
