Thanks again guys.

Well, now we know where we stand and what the path is. We just have to follow the path.

Just an update on Amy's status.

First of all, it is Hodgkins Lymphoma and they are saying it is stage 2 or 3. The oncologist was upbeat and very optimistic for good treatment results. She said of all the types of cancer out there, this was one of the most treatable.

Things are moving quicker than normal (we are actually about 2 weeks ahead of normal procedure). They usually don't get into treatment this quick. But the speed of action is not related to the type of cancer, just quick paperwork and good scheduling.

Went to have pulmonary and heart echo tests done today to make sure she can tolerate the chemo because due to her young age they want to use the aggressive batch of drugs.
She will have a consult with the surgeons next Tuesday, and they will both put an IV port in her upper chest and at the same time go ahead and do a bone marrow biopsy (standard procedure) at the same time since she will already be there.

If all goes well next Wednesday, they will go ahead and start chemo treatments Thursday morning. Right now the treatment protocol will be every other Thursday (unless something changes) for 8 to 10 treatments, so this will be ongoing for the next 3 to 4 months.

Thanks to everyone for all the prayers and well-wishes.
Please continue to pray for Amy to make a complete recovery.

Peg

Hey Peg, when my wife went through chemo, there was concerns that the chemo would cause appetite and queasy upset stomach symptoms. My wife took Marinol. It is a synthetic THC:  Since red blood cell levels will be monitored and need to stay elevated, my wife and I ate fresh spinach every day through chemo. Her levels actually went up. and its LEGAL.

Regards to Marinol, it increased her appetite, and her blood work was spot on throughout the whole process. She maintained her job, and worked through the followup radiation.  Her immune system needs to stay at 100%.

Here's a link as an option.

Women are tougher, when it comes to things like this, I don't know why but its true.

No one goes to their second chemo treatment with hair. It's a fact, I was in denial about it, until it started to fall out. My wife's daughters came down, and she went and got the GI Jane, and "do rags", bandanas,,etc,.." She has a good looking head and it is no big deal. PLUS it grows back.

Be sure to find out which drug is used for the chemo,, my wife was on cytoxan and another I have to ask her.

Technology and the amounts per session are changing all the time.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do, my wife has also been a nurse for over 25 years, now just does Legal Nurse Consulting, and Life Care Planning, with some critical case management from our home.

My wife is 10 years cancer free.

You and Amy will continue to be in our prayers.

God Bless.

I have a nephew with stage four of the same cancer, so I will be sure and add Peg's name to my prayer list. I know it is scary, but like the doctor said, it is one of the more treatable cancers, and with good success rates.
