Local Police in Hot Water over "Doctoring" report.
« on: July 29, 2009, 07:49:25 PM »
As most folks, I respect and admire LEO's for what they do. The vast majority are honoring the badge they wear, and doing a dangerous and difficult job.

BUT, what happens when the dash cam, and audio, catch LEO's conspiring to fake a report regarding a young women charged with DUI.

They are so busted.. Audio and Video at link.

4 Hollywood police officers accused of doctoring arrest report

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (WSVN) -- Hollywood Police have placed four officers on administrative duty after they were accused of doctoring an arrest report.

"Do you understand? Are you ready to begin. Go ahead," said Hollywood Officer Dewey Pressley back on Feb. 17. On that day, officers charged 23-year-old Alexandra Torrensvillas with drunk driving just after midnight on Sheridan Street in Hollywood.

Police cuffed her and put her in the back of a squad car. While she was inside, an open mic captured some what sounded like plotting and scheming going on outside. "We'll do a little Walt Disney to protect the cop, because it wouldn't matter-- she is drunk anyway," said Pressley.

Hollywood Police Officer Joel Francisco pulled Torrensvillas over at a green light. Francisco ended up rear-ending her car
and would have faced a citation for following her too close. Pressley arrived on scene, wrote the report and made the arrest. This is the conversation outside of his police cruiser that night:

"We're going to bend this a little bit, OK, because she is so drunk so, it is what it is," said Pressley.

"Hey, you are the expert," said another officer.

"Well, I don't want to make things up ever, because it's wrong, but if I need to bend it a little bit to protect a cop, I'm gonna," said Pressley.

During the conversation, he remembers that Torrensvillas mentioned having a cat in her lap. "As far as I am concerned, I am going to put words in his mouth. She went to accelerate, a cat jumped out-- literally a cat jumped out the window. At which time he thought it could've been a pedestrian, which distracted him, because he was concerned, and that's normal. Before he comes to a stop-- boom. Hey," said Pressley, while another officer laughed.

In the end, the officer got off without a citation. Torrensvillas, however, was not so lucky. "Her penalty has doubled, because she was unlawfully charged with a DUI causing property damage for which she is not guilty of," said her attorney, Lawrence Meltzer. "By entering a crash into the picture that doubles and enhances the penalty."

The audio tape also reveals a conspiracy to say Torrensvillas had cut in front of Officer Francisco when in fact, he was behind her the whole time.

"The chief became aware of it originally, and as soon as he did, he initiated an internal investigation," said Hollywood Police Lieutenant Scott Pardon. "All four of the officers have been placed on administrative duties, and they will not be on patrol until this investigation is concluded."

I did not post this to antagonize anything.

Like everyone else we meet in life there are the good, bad, and ugly....

A young girl getting a DUI is one thing,; violating her rights, conspiring to cover up their screw up on her, regardless, is what jack booted thugs did in a previous time.

Chris Rock's advice would not have helped this BS.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

I used to trust and respect cops. Then I had to deal with them a few times. That changed my mind.

As if we needed another reason.

So, does that mean all cops can not be trusted and aren't worthy of respect?

Not at all. just like all politicians aren't crooked. But you're better off if you err on the side of caution.

That's not what he said.  I wonder what he got caught doing when he "had to deal with them a few times."

I shed blood, sweat and tears as a police officer for over 30 years.  I've gone places and done things
for my community that most folks would not dare to think of going and doing.  I've been stabbed, shot at and
I have killed.  I've arrested the scum of the earth, people who most folks don't even like to think about.
I take great offense when some little man with a big mouth implies that ALL cops are this, or that!  In my
experience, when I hear that sort of talk, it is from someone who got caught and wants to blame the officer.
Usually DUI or dope related.

If this gets me kicked off the forum, then so-be-it.

Read through his back posts before you get all defensive, and start shooting your mouth off.
Yes it was dope or DUI related (forget which) but the pigs tried to screw Jumbo instead of the stoner for it any way. Just because YOU may be honest (Ever fudged paper work ? ) don't operate under the delusion that they all are, in fact the MAJORITY of younger cops are badge happy arrogant pricks.
You have to really work at to get kicked off this forum but that doesn't mean that you can jump to conclusions about other forum members with out people thinking you're a jerk and reading your future posts in that light.

I want to start by sincerely thanking you for your public service. While I may not like some of the laws out there, I will always show respect for the cops that enforce them.

This is not the kind of forum that will kick people off for having a differing opinion, especially not when they are defending themselves or their profession.

There are many other current and ex-cops on this forum. I respect you all for taking a stand and performing one of the toughest jobs out there!!!
