Hey Haz--

Here's a link to some more of our Pig Hunt Pics.  Got a shot or two of Haz Jr's stuck pig.  I know... Next year he'll chase one down on foot and bite its neck out with his teeth.  Me???  I'll continue to get my pig the normal way...  with a high-powered rifle.

Thanks CR for posting.  Like Haz said, we need details and some gun porn too.  Looks like you used the original assualt rifle.  What caliber?

That might be a $100,000 picture right there, Haz. Send it to Miami with his application for a fencing scholarship! Didn't think you were serious when you said he wanted to take a hog with a blade. Wow! If I send down my matching bayonet for Jr, perhaps he can bone the pig out before it hits the ground next time. Congats to the hunter.

Mac,

I used a grinder to put an edge on it then gave it a few strokes on a whet stone so it was sharp and pointed for the hunt.

I think that blade has a really nice balance and feel to it.  It would be good to fight with.

What a coincidence. I just saw a Tred Barta episode last night, where he hunted hogs with a knife. The hogs weren't real big, but the excitement was still there. There was an strange part where they showed him "sighting in" his knife on a cactus. It was a pretty enjoyable episode. I think they said the dogs were Ktulus, or Katulas. Something like that. They were pretty tough looking, but still friendly.

I'll bet Haz Jr. would enjoy watching that and reflecting on his own hunt.

I hear Tred is pretty sick with cancer and in a wheelchair. Anybody know anything about how he's doing?

Catahoulas, maybe? I've heard stories of guys who hunt hogs with spears. They do i the same way the knife hunters do.... With dogs. I'd kinda like to see videos of that.....

Catahoula Leopard dogs are very cool. Smart and good looking, a combo of hound and catch dog. The spear thing is pretty common. You can find hog spears on line. Its a lot smarter than a knife as your odds of getting bitten or gored are lower. Still, I like these wacky things we call guns. ::)
