I saw the "III" but I couldn't remember which was the .22 Magnum ?

The model II is the .22 Magnum. I can remember that because my brother has one. I just wasn't sure that it said III on Overload's pistol. Nice gun, I wish I had one but my wants are too many and my dollars are too few.

I suppose my .454 Seville SA, a gift from Hank Williams Jr., counts, as does the matching Ruger Alaskan .454. I did sell off my 10-inch 45-70 Contender barrel, as well as the .50/750 barrel from J.D. Jones, although one never knows when I might get that 45-70 or larger itch back.

Michael,

The .45-70 is really a nice handgun round loaded with the correct powder. I loaded up a batch with the Remington 405 grain Soft Point bullets with IMR-3031 powder and we really went through them in short order. They worked equally well in my Marlin .45-70 Guide Gun. All were accurate. The .45-70 is a great round in handguns or rifles.  Bill T.

I'm too wimpy to put a .45-70 barrel on my Contenter. The 3 most powerful calibers I have are:
.45 Colt with +P Cor-Bon ammo, .44 Magnum, and .357 Maximum.

Hey, the few .357 Max rounds I've shot were filling-shakers!

They'll blow the front sight off if you don't have it Loc-Tited on. The recoil seems "sharper" than the other calibers too.

Aha, thank you.  Thank you, very much.

The high end of .357max overlaps the low end of the .30/30.

OKAY THAT's IT.  Tomorrow is silhouette day at the range.  I'm going for 50 round of Max.    I use to do 80 easy, (40 Creedmoore, 40 standing).

Okay, so today, I declared, was "Silhouette Day At The Range"  or SDATR as I refer to it.

Yucky weather and not much time, so I went to an indoor range.  50 rds with my S&W 686 (8-3/8" barrel) and 50 rds with the T/C .357max hand cannon.   I asked, before I went, in if the range had any problem with this and they said their backstop could handle up to .500S&W.  And yes, I used copies of IHMSA targets that I made.  They're scaled for rimfire.

Only one other person was in there (6 lanes) and he left before I came out.  Evidently it was noticed.  As the store personnel and "regular" customers wanted to know about how it felt and shot.   I personally didn't think it was THAT much louder than the .357Mag.......then I did have both plugs and muffs on.  Since I haven't fired a whole box of ammo in a while it did become a challenge after about 20 rounds not to force the shot and not to flinch.   Of course, hand me a 9mm now and I'll think it's a .22.

Boy do I have a hankering to go shoot some IMHSA.

Here's the BEST target out of 5.   It's only a 20yd range so don't get too impressed.

I wished I had kept mine ( .357 max ), it was a Wichita, break open single shot with 10" barrel, 1911 style grip frame, it was a cannon.

A friend of mine is a muzzle flash freak, likes short barrels, light bullets and lots of powder. The one that will get peoples attention everytime, is his 4 5/8" Ruger SRM .357max, with 110 grn bullets and 30 grns of H110, the flash and the percussion, makes you think something just blew up.
