AAARGH! And again AAARGH! Look, I know Ruger has never been an innovator. They made their bones by taking existing designs and making them stronger and cheaper. This is true from their SA revolvers to the mini-14 to the 10/22 to the LCP to their AR. Still, do we need, or even want another 1911? Are the 400 different different models out there not enough? The damn thing is pushing a hundred years old. Is it too much to ask that a company that can drop a seven figure budget on their R@D department to be able to come up with something new and innovative? Honestly, if I want a 1911, I'll buy Tarus if I'm on a budget or Springfield or Para if I'm flush. I would not spend a second lamenting the lack of a Ruger in the marketplace. Where is caseless ammo? Where is a round that is small, but goes in like a penny and out like a pizza? Where is a pistol that will let you change calibers by changing uppers? Where is innovation? If the best Ruger can do is a "hey guys, wait up, I've got one too" 1911, I will be dissapointed.

They should take the time and money to design an auto gun that people actually like instead of the crap they put out now.

The Springfield's have never had a recall on "new" designs of an old platform...

At our range, they got a shipment of foreign-made Springfield 1911's in .45 that all had 9mm firing pins installed.

I still like them, but I'd love a Ruger 1911 that is similar to Para's expert, but not made in Canada. Let's see if they get it California approved.

I think that Ruger would have to price a 1911 around $500 or $600 if they made one just because of their buyers.

If Ruger came out with one at a price at $400 or less, people would remember the LCP, the SR-9 and ask what's going to go wrong with it.  It has to be inferrior or else they'd price it higher.

If Ruger priced it at $700 or higher, people would say that Ruger was out of their mind and bring up Kimber and the like.

Personally, After hearing MB's talk about his friend's 1911, I'd go with a Rock Island Armory one myself.

I swear by mine 1 big hole on the 1st mag and 3 more mags into that hole at 25 yards out of the box. 1500 rounds zero problems. All I have done is yellow nail polish on the front sight, Hogue grips and recently an extended thumb safety.

The design is already over a hundred years old.......JMB was working on the design before 1900....1911 is just when the US military actually adopted it as their sidearm...........

And, for the record, IMO, you can never have too many 1911's.   ;)   ;D  ;D  ;D

In theory, the more competition out there should bring prices down.......but I guess the demand is enough to keep them up.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison
