While I look forward to the movie. Problems I see (speaking as the parent of a modern day teen).
I'd guess that of the 2,000 kids in the local high school, maybe 5% could survive one week in the woods even WITH supplies, before surrendering in hopes of plugging in their Ipods, a warm bed, and somebody to cook & serve their food to them.
Looking at the school parking lot, I see every Japanese car made, corvette's, new GTO's, BMW's, and the occasional modern SUV. NOTHING that's going function as an escape vehicle (remember the 4wd, lifted chevy pickup they got away in).
Even if one of the kids parents owned a store, what are the odd's they would have supplies the kids needed? Bed Bath and Beyond ain't cuttin it.
Our populus today simply lacks the knowledge and fortitude to resist at all. Sorry, it's just what I see on a day to day basis that makes me believe these things. I travel all over the country, and yes, there are a VERY few area's that might be exceptions.
Ask yourselves seriously. Would my kids and their friends make it? Seriously? Now's your time to do something about that!
