Tough choice!!! I love'em both!
I only choose auto because I'm considering most "
out of the box stock" options.
Single action revolver: In stock form, most, cetainly not ALL of them have a disapointing trigger that was long, & often with inconsistant pull pressures for accurate shooting (just my experience). Reloading multiple rounds is a bit of a chore if your in a hurry (again, just my experience).
Double action revolver: Either you pull the hammer back, adding time to follow up shots, and I personally loose my line of site to the target to get my thumb on the hammer. Or suffer from what is commonly a very long, heavy trigger pull shooting it like a single action.
Semi-auto: Personally, I just don't find them as much fun to shoot. BUT, I handgun hunt quite a lot, so a great trigger, SUPER quick second shots without having to loose my fixed grip on the weapon (if you shoot one squirrel you'll usually have another pop it's head out to), and popping in a fresh mag. once in a while means a LOT! And to this point in my life, the semi-auto's I've owned have never given me a reason to question their reliabilty.
