Ok, I'm gonna hijack the thread for a moment, but I just had a flash that I wanted to run by you guys.

I got thinking about James Hoffa's statement that we need to take the son's of bitches out. Obama refuses to refute the statement because he is so beholden to the unions. The TEAMSTERS UNION. Let that sink in for a moment.

Basically what this says to me is that our country is now being run by the mob, and Obama is their front man. And here all this time I was thinking it was Soros pulling the strings.  ::)

Jesus was a social revolutionary who's words and actions challenged the leading authorities of his people.
That was why Pilate felt it so important that the Jews execute him rather than Rome doing it. He did not want to have to deal with a rebellion.

Apparently, neither have you!!  ;D

Pilate did not want anything to do with this trial, considered it a local affair only. There were a couple of times in the Bible that he stated to the crowds that he could find nothing wrong with Jesus and had no grounds to execute Him.

It was only after being pressed by the Pharisees - whom Jesus had personally called hypocrites to their faces - and the crowd was getting rowdy, that Pilate relented and ordered the execution. The Jews - under Roman law - had no authority to execute criminals, only a Roman governor could order an execution.

The Romans usually allowed any religious practice, including some fairly bizarre ones, but even hint at a revolt or riot, and all bets were off. Like you said, this was Pilate avoiding a riot in an already touchy province that would not take much to devolve into a revolt.

As a former denizen of the cesspool that is Illinois, Thompson should also be on this list of convicted former Governors. He was blessed at leaving office having packed the State .gov with his cronies and also under Repubby Presidents, so no Federal beefs.

IMHO he was a liar and a cheat, constantly caught using state property for personal gain - like the infamous photo of him directing State Troopers carrying the precious antiques (personal) he had just bought on a junket somewhere - using the State plane as well to bring them to Springfield. Just a minor example of egregious wrongs.
